Amazing site for groups. Secluded Alien looking sandstone landscape used in the making of countless movies including Star Trek and the Original Zorro series.

Sleeping in the bottom of a canyon where the sun rises late and sets early due to the surrounding mountain horizon. Lots of wildlife to watch and listen to. Great place to fly a drone.

Hours of hiking and exploring in a private open space limited to very few. Afternoon and evening breeze every day. Views of the entire city from the top of the mountain.

Camping spot has VERY spotty cellular reception, but free WiFi is provided. Come visit our mountain oasis close to the city, but feels so far.

The steepest parts of the driveway are concrete, then turns to dirt. The dirt part of the road is rough and has a steep section, trucks pass without issue. Stock cars can make it but not recommended. 4 wheel drive recommended if muddy. My son does drive his stock Camry to the site. There is an area where a low clearance vehicle can be parked on concrete if you want to walk about 300' to the site.

Bring a hammock, there are several great spots. Portable restroom provided. Propane stove-top provided, please bring your own propane tank. Please keep in mind that the restroom is serviced every Thursday morning. Trash can and bags are provided. PLEASE PACK OUT ALL TRASH.

This land is pretty magical. I did not pay close enough attention to Charles description of the access to the site, and my vehicle had some trouble getting there. Once it was there, it was amazing!! I urge all you campers go and explore this amazing LA gem!!! Make sure you have 4 wheel drive and your car has some lift to it--mine was too low and suffered the consequences!

I want to also give a big shoutout to the Host, Charles!! He came and met me to make sure I found the site, he helped me with my vehicle, and he was all-around a really great spirit!!!

Very unique experience . Hard to believe you can feel so secluded so close to “civilization “.. feels like your in Joshua tree with a really cool, hike along picturesque boulder formations and views of the flatlands. The road is manageable and one went up in a Volvo sedan. The campsite Has some water for cleaning and such, and a power source for charging and using the cool lighted tree. The WiFi works great . the campfire area is inviting and the hammock is a plus. Hosts are off the charts and I highly recommend giving this a look. It can get a little dusty when the wind kicks up so you might come home a little dirty. My dogs had a blast. Saw many hawks and heard coyotes. None visited

This place is gorgeous, and has lots of lovely amenities. Charles was a fantastic host and went all out with making sure we had everything we needed. There was a tree with twinkle lights, an extension cord to charge your phone, WIFI, a trash can, a water hose (not drinkable but great for putting out the fire or rinsing off dirt), a charcoal grill with all the fixins, and a fireplace with a huge amount of firewood.

Charles even showed us the best spot to hang a hammock. It was a serene, relaxing time, and felt very secluded. At sunset, some coyotes came to visit (my dog thought they'd be her new best friends haha), but they were skittish and ran when we hollered.

The hiking trail that leads up out of the canyon is awesome, we went on a very long stroll and saw so many cool rock formations.

Another bonus, we were total dopes and forgot our lighter and matches, and Charles left a lighter up at the property gate for us.

We had to leave early because of a pet emergency at home, but we'll definitely be back to Mars on Earth. This is my favorite place I've camped on here! The host did a great job, especially considering this was their first time renting to Hipcampers.

This camping experience was simply unbelievable. My friends and I spent two nights at Mars to celebrate the New Years, and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. Isolated with beautiful views, the spot is refreshing break from city life. Host Charles was incredibly accommodating, communicating regularly adjusting group sizes as needed. He even brought up a new propane fire pit when it got a little chilly on NYE. My group is already making plans to go back to Mars.

I’d like to keep this place a secretl, but it’s a gem! Total privacy, surrounded by rocks and a trail straight up to VIEWS. Great place for dogs too. Super accommodating hosts have already given this place lots of special touches. We can’t wait to come back again sometime!

Charles is a great host. He made sure directions were clear and was waiting for us when we got there. He showed us around, reminded us about poison oak/ivy which there is on the property, and was flexible for where we could pitch our tent. The campsite is surrounded by big rock formations which offers beautiful scenery. You're close to Los Angeles, but feel in the middle of nowhere.
It seems like the project is still in progress though as there was a lot of trash all around. We tried to help and collect some of it but there was just too much. Also, the 2 white vehicles you can see on the pictures are there all the time. The portable toilet and trash can are very useful but could be made less visible. Finally, make sure you read that the $99 price is only for 2 people! Charles was kind enough to offer a 50% discount for the kids. All in all, a bit pricey compared to the cleanliness, but has huge potential that I'm sure will develop in the coming weeks/months. Thanks for having us Charles!

Response from Charles, the Host, on January 3rd, 2019

Sorry about the debris. As I said the property was covered in debris when I purchased it, took us a year to get it clean along with over a dozen loads to the dump. Unfortunately between the previous rain storm and the 80 mph winds we were experiencing when you arrived, we lost quite a bit of loose top soil (loosened by the tractor mainly) exposing more hidden pieces, which I tried to clean up as quick as i could when you arrived, but like you said it was a LOT. Didn't help that the wind blew the trash can over with all the trash from the previous campers which they forgot to take with them. I know you might feel we charge to much, but our site is not dispersed and only host to one group at a time for maximum privacy. I did waive any additional charges for your children as a courtesy. We do have plans to make a little fenced area to locate the restroom. The trash can is very portable, if you every come to visit again feel free to place it wherever you like. Most campers have left it by the tree in the center for convenience. Thank you for your feedback, we will update our listing's description for a more accurate description of our location. Thx! Charles...
