Looking to get away from it all? Look no further! This place is REMOTE! The last 5 miles from Petrolia takes over 20 minutes, as it is very rugged and steep.

This quaint little campsite (The Knob) is a 16 foot, furnished bell tent perched on a little hill and tucked in the trees and faces a beautiful madrone.  Bell tent is furnished with a queen bed and an ottoman that pulls out into a twin bed. Comfortably fits 3, but if you had additional guests that wanted to pitch tents, there is room for a couple more tents at this site. There is running water, a fire pit and a picnic table and its about 200 yards from the outhouse. You will definitely need 4wd or all wheel drive and 8 inches of clearance to make it up the hill. You will want to screen shot the directions, the map and the map of the property, as you will lose service before you get here and have no service here.

The terrain is steep in spots and there are not established trails everywhere so you will need to wear hiking boots with good traction, as the loose gravel and dirt can be slippery without proper footwear.

You can add on private yoga or meditation sessions with certified Yoga instructor host Rachelle Lanning for $20/person to make it your own personal retreat!

Dogs are welcome! We have 2 dogs on the property that would love to meet and greet and hang out if your dogs are good with other dogs. If not, we can try to keep them away, but cannot promise they won't make a visit to your site.

There are currently 3 camp sites on our 80 acres, one is about 100 yards away from your site.

We camped at the Knob Glamping site for Father’s Day Weekend. The tent was set up like a suite, So cute and cozy! With a queen size bed, lots of pillows, table, couch, and two night stands, seriously who could ask for more?!!! Our kids set up their own tent next to ours and had a blast! Our camp area was clean, grass was freshly cut! We drove to the Mattole River on Saturday and spent the day swimming. Beautiful scenery all throughout our drive! If you are looking to get away from it all and want some adventure, definitely try this place out!

This place is amazing, so remote and private. The yurt is outfitted with really comfortable furniture (seriously the bed was more comfortable than my own) and had a picnic table, a fire pit, water spout and two outhouses nearby. The platform site wasn’t occupied so we were able to enjoy that as well, and the view was incredible! There are a few trails on the site, and we got at least 5 hours of exploration in with some still left to explore. We ended up staying on top of the mountain for the weekend, as it rained the second day we were there and the prospect of driving up the dirt road in our SUV to get back to the site was too much for us - seriously, this trek is not for the faint of heart. It’s a narrow and steep drive for at least 10 minutes, and that’s after the hour of driving through winding, narrow mountain roads to get to Petrolia. But if you’re up for an adventure, then this place is worth it. So beautiful and peaceful. Really hope to come back in the future.

Soothing swing next to the platform site.Photos do not do this view justice. Various layers of rolling, pristine mountains covered in trees. These flowers were everywhere - just stunning nature scenery.Tender meadow down the path from the platform site.

I had a magical stay at the knob. My rental chevy truck fought with me a lot up the mountain, so I would pick a different vehicle next time. Loved wine in the swing and yoga in the morning on the platform.

The yurt was such a pleasant experience! This is a great place to get some reading and deep thinking done. Thank you so much to my hosts for the yoga and book recommendations and to the dogs for keeping me company. :)

First, Ryan is wonderful! He was welcoming, kind and answered all my questions. Also since no one else had booked the outlook spot, he encouraged us to go check it out and enjoy the view from the swing bench. The view from that spot is to die for. It over looks adjacent valleys and with the costal fog flowing in between them. It’s quite the breathtaking view.
Secondly, the yurt was phenomenal. This is glamping done right. The yurt was decked out with a huge (and oh so very comfortable) bed. It was tucked in a grove of trees which gave wonderful shade from the morning sun so it was easy to sleep in if we choose to.
We also asked Ryan if we could partake In trying the “red neck” hot tub. I cannot overstate how amazing this is. He lights a fire to heat up the tub! This tub overlooks the same view as from the outlook spot. Neither of us wanted to ever leave.
On our last night, it stared to rain when we were in the yurt. The pitter patter was amazing to fall asleep to. The yurt keeps in some nice warmth and neither of us were ever cold.
Ryan is right when he recommends you need 4-wheel or all wheel drive with some clearance. I took my 4wd Toyota RAV4 and it was no problem getting to his place. The drive is worth the privacy, nature and wonderful experience.

A little hike up the property and you get a view of the ocean!Red neck hot tub!Enjoying our bread by the fireIf you climb up a bit on his property, you can see the ocean!

This place really blew our hair back. Those vistas go on for days and The Lost Coast isn't too far away (on your way try to find the floating truck in the woods). Get the breakfast if you can as it was super tasty. We loved it and would 100% head back when we can. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, recommendations for paddleboarding and hiking! Thank you guys so much and we hope to be back.
