Looking to get away from it all? Look no further! This place is REMOTE! The last 5 miles from Petrolia takes over 20 minutes, as it is very rugged and steep.

This secluded campsite is nestled back in the trees and usually doesn't get above 70 some degrees.  It has a 16 foot furnished bell tent with a queen sized bed. There is a redneck hot tub, heated by fire 150 yards away, that can be used for an additional fee. There are 3 different places you could set up tents, so you could come with a group, but unless you bring a group, it will be private with nobody else camped for 200 yards. There is running water, an outhouse, a fire pit, a picnic table and a couple of benches to sit on. It is 50 yards from an outhouse and 100 yards from a common area where campers can use the sink or play horseshoes and corn hole. You definitely need 4 wheel drive to get here, and at least 8 inches of clearance. Be sure to consult with us about directions, as google will not get you here and you won't have service here and will lose it about an hour before you get here. So you will want to screen shot our directions, map and the map of the property so that you will have them. There is no cell service where you will be, but if you need to check in, you can use our wifi briefly at the yurt if we are around.

The terrain is steep in spots and there are not established trails everywhere so you will need to wear hiking boots with good traction, as the loose gravel and dirt can be slippery without proper footwear.

Dogs are welcome! We have 2 dogs on the property that would love to meet and greet and hang out if your dogs are good with other dogs. If not, we can try to keep them away, but cannot promise they won't make a visit to your site.

There are currently 3 camp sites on our 80 acres, one is about 200 yards away from your site.

Great as you might imagine. This is a magical hideaway deep in the Lost Coast region. Our site was extremely well maintained and impressive overall. Ryan was a helpful, charming host. 10/10 would recommend to anyone with a 4x4 and sense of adventure.

Lovely private campsite tucked away on this already tucked away property. Close enough to explore the Lost Coast in Mendocino. Ryan provided me with tons of local info and a map that helped a lot since cell service was hard to come by in the Petrolia area. I appreciated having an outhouse and potable water available close to my site. A citronella candle was also provided, which helped with the mosquitos. The fire ban meant no hot cowboy tub but maybe if I ever visit again I'll get to try it!

We had a great experience with our camping at the Den and the Platform. The place is beautiful and peaceful. The hot tub was great. The hostess was great and super friendly. We did enjoy our stay and would highly recommend a visit to this hidden little paradise. Thank you for sharing the beauty with us and the friendly hospitality it all was very much appreciated.

Insanely beautiful camping spot! Everything about the trip was great. The views from the property are breathtaking. Ryan and his family were great hosts. Camping spots are very secluded, perfect for taking in the fresh air and getting some R&R. Definitely give the cowboy hot tub a go, it’s a unique, relaxing experience. Would highly recommend the Den!

After a few nights on the platform we switched it up and stayed at the den and absolutely loved it. The campsite had everything we needed and more. Loved being in the trees with a view of the stars. Definitely will be coming back.

I don’t even know where to begin....This place is breathtaking! From the beginning drive in through the redwoods to throwing the the truck in 4 wheel drive to get up to the camping spot, simply amazing! To top it all off Ryan and Rachelle are incredible hosts! Very knowledgable and made themselves readily available for any questions or concerns we had! The den is a very secluded spot on the property with tons of privacy but still feel safe! You have to do the redneck hot tub as well. The views are breathtaking and nothing better then a hot soak before bed! If you’re looking for a place to unplug and become one with nature, look no further!

This place is absolutely amazing. Rachelle and Ryan are super friendly, as are their sweet pups. Property itself is very isolated and quiet, the views are gorgeous, and the cowboy hot tub is awesome! I can’t say enough good things, I’ll definitely be back.

Be aware, getting to town is about a 90 minute task, so bring what you need and hunker down. You’ll definitely want 4-wheel/all wheel drive as the roads leading in are quite steep in spots as are the roads in the surrounding areas.

My fiance and I were looking for a spot to camp last minute and we came across The Den- this spot took us off the beaten path and we loved the drive-in from the North. Extremely secluded spot (the drive up off the main road and the campsite itself) which was perfect- just make sure to follow the instructions on getting there.

The campsite was spacious and clean with a huge fire pit- tucked back into the woods. I wish there had been a picnic table (maybe a future addition?) but the hay bales were a nice touch for seating. We also appreciated the citronella candle- mosquitos are numerous (and they seemed to prefer me out of the two of us). We lucked out both nights with clear, starry skies that we could look up to from the fire pit and our tent.

The views once you walked up from the site were amazing and the whole property is super cool. It was a pretty hot weekend so we didn't explore the area around our camp as much as we would have liked, but we will definitely be returning in the future.

Great spot but it is VERY far from any civilization anywhere! The garden is beautiful and has great view. The campsite it self doesn’t have the best view but still very secluded and fun!
