Loved Lisa's super cute and cozy cottage! It's well decorated, clean, and private. Part of the home is historical and there's an amazing old-style fireplace that gives the place a unique feel. It's also walking distance to wineries and The Gathering Table restaurant, and a short drive away from downtown Solvang. Definitely loved our stay here and would come back!

What a nice little cabin!
Lisa was prompt and helpful during the booking. The cabin is cozy, clean and very cute - nice instructions all around. Awesome location, near some wineries and shops while being a little secluded.

I'll review this one with a little snippet from my journal entry that morning......

"Sure enough, there it was, Rustic Cabin #2. Rustic is right. I’m sitting in it now, having just finished a French Press Coffee and a couple chapters of Jim Harrison’s True North. The sign on the wall says parts of this cabin are 100 years old. It was apparently part of the old Blacksmith’s workshop in the historic village of Ballard, a township founded back in 1880. Today, Ballard is home to 450 people, a church, and a bakery. The bakery was started by a former Hollywood exec named Bob who—according to the bakery's About page—quit his job at Sony to settle down and bake bread. In a few minutes when Marie wakes up, she and I will go there for their world-famous chocolate croissants.

Last night, after we briefly settled in our rustic blacksmith cabin, we made the ten-minute drive to Solvang, the closest city to Ballard. Home to 5,000 people today, Solvang sees about a million visitors per year. Why? Because it’s a small slice of Denmark nestled in the sunny fields of Santa Ynez. Solvang actually means “sunny field” in Danish. It was founded in 1911 by three Danes. Today, it’s littered with “shoppes” and bakeries and wineries and traditional Danish windmills. String lights hang over the main street. Christmas lights glisten in the various town squares. Marie and I strolled the streets. We ate warm aebleskivers—a traditional Danish dessert that’s basically a large gooey doughnut hole with powdered sugar and raspberry jam. We bought a bottle of wine. Poked our heads into leather shops and glass blowing studios and various bakeries. Our final stop was the Copenhagen Sausage Garden, where we ordered bratwursts and fries, a Kolsch beer and a smorgasbord of mustards and mayo dipping sauces. Then we drove back to our rustic cabin to eat. We drank wine by the gaslit furnace. Marie demolished me in chess. We ate pot gummies and watched a couple episodes of Big Mouth. Then turned in. This morning, I awoke at 6am. It was still dark outside. A gentle rain pattered against the tin roof. A tabby cat pranced up to the door to escape getting wet. I made French press coffee and read my book while the gaslit fire burned. The Danish have a concept called Hygge, which is basically the mood of coziness. In true Solvang fashion, I embraced the hygge in full force. Now it’s time to wake Marie and go get some of those chocolate croissants."

Wonderful, wonderful stay. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Beautiful cabins! We rented both for the weekend. Very well located walking distance to a few vineyards and a couple great takeout spots. Outdoor space was also great so we enjoyed hanging out in evenings. Linus the outdoor cat will charm your socks off.

What a magical spot. From the minute you pull in with the rosemary and seclusion, to the rustic cabin with the gorgeous outdoor area with multiple spots to relaxin. This was an absolutely perfect spot for us as a couple. We ate outside under the stars and had a wonderful fire outside. I will for sure be coming back here. Oh, and the host Lisa, was extremely helpful, accommodating, and very sweet.

We had a great time staying at Lisa’s cabin. The cabin was charming and had everything you needed for 1-2 night stay. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and the company of Linus the cat.
