Slug Acres is a tiny campground I'm in the process of creating overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Its a little piece of Heaven where the Navarro River meets the Ocean and only minutes away from the Navarro River Redwoods State park. Banana Slugs love to live under the canopy of Redwood trees and other Majestic Pines and are often found on my property, hence the name of your future camping destination. At night you will enjoy sleeping by the sound of the waves from the Pacific that carry up thru a gully from small stream that flows on the perimeter of my place. In the distance you will hear the faint soothing sound of the Fog Horn to the entrance of the Albion River harbor.
The Oceanview Campsite is a 10 x 10 camping platform nicely separated from the other campers deeper in the forest. Because it is deeper in the woods campfires are not allowed in this spot. I've built a basic outdoor kitchen and a compostable toileting system that will be shared between the two sites. I will have a large battery with a small amount of energy stored in it but plan on living off the grid. Ultimately my goal is to create a emission free camp site but there is also a eco friendly generator if energy needs are a requirement for your stay.
There are many wonderful things to say about the property and my personal favorite is that it's generally insect free. It's pretty rare to experience a nasty mosquito. Even better there are no wild animals that will eat your food at night, aside from the occasional chipmunk. Wild turkeys, deer, and woodpeckers often wander aimlessly around the grounds, all harmless and entertaining, especially the babies. At night you might hear the occasional hoot of an owl that occupies a nearby tree.
The Navarro River State Beach is just 1.3 miles from my property. You can walk there but Highway 1 can be a little busy especially on the weekends. So I suggest driving to the entrance and parking there. The Navarro Redwood park is just a bit farther and where George Lucas filmed the scene in Star Wars in the Ewok village. There are so many other state parks and cities too explore nearby. The Elk store is about 5 miles away for your basic needs or a delicious sandwich currently open M,W,F,SS from 11-4 and Queenies restaurant is open F,S,S,M from 10-3.
Many times I will be onsite for your stay to make sure everything is to your stay is a pleasant one. I'm an eccentric character that wears my hats. In particular I've worked as an international boat captain and create large concrete sculptures. I've lived along the Mendocino coast for 14 years and happy to share all the secret exploring sites along the coast. However, once settled in I will probably find my way of the outskirts of Slug Acres to let you feel like you have your very own campground. By renting my space you will be supporting a Dream. One of creating an off grid paradise that will better the experience of future campers... Hope to see your Tent in my yard soon..

I stayed at the ocean view site. Due to the smoke, I couldn’t see the ocean, but I could hear it at night. The property is beautiful and functional. Kyle was an excellent host with great communication. The property is just over a mile from the beach. If you take highway 1 up to Fort Bragg, it is a beautiful drive with multiple places to stop a long the way. Kyle has a vision for his property that will truly make it a phenomenal destination.
Great experience! I received a warm welcome and tour of the property. I was surprised to hear I was the 5th person to camp there. It felt well established with a great outdoor kitchen and toilet set up. Enjoyed my time and view. Thanks Kyle!
Kyle is an angel! Super helpful and made my stay very great. He’s going to make the place amazing with time but in the mean time it has all you might need. I slept soundly and felt comfortable. Kyle was so friendly and sweet.
Whimsical, serene, welcoming site!
It was such a delight to stay on Kyle’s property. The ocean view site does peek through the trees to the sea below, and we fell asleep to the sounds of the waves each night we were there. Kyle’s vision to make this a dream camping spot is already coming true, and he’s working on more. He’s very welcoming and kind! A+ place to stay, will definitely be returning.
We loved the ocean view campsite at slug acres. It’s nascent but can definitely see the dream coming alive! The ocean view site was spacious, peaceful and calming. We loved the view and privacy. Would definitely recommend staying a night or a few here and will hopefully be back soon
We literally said "this is camping perfection" in our tent one night! So wonderful. Spectacular view. We sat there for 6 hours watching the sun set and the stars come out.
I had a fantastic stay! I felt safe. There was clean fresh water provided. A nice kitchen area with kitchen utensils, hot plate, msr burner, and a dishwashing station. Good lighting and power for phone charging etc. I got the ocean view platform and it was awesome. Beautiful view! Kyle was a delight! Super gracious host that made me feel welcome and comfortable. Really good directions as well. I would stay again 💯!
