Pitch your tent or park your small RV or trailer on a flat, green piece of land, perfect for a home base.  The property allows easy access to Highway 190 which allows campers to visit Giant Sequoias, lakes, rivers, trails, wilderness areas, and forest lands within minutes of your base.  Campers come back to a peaceful, healing place, home to rescue dogs who are convalescing so they can find their forever homes.  This property is approximately 1 hour from the Sequoia/Kings National Parks. The property was formally a tangerine orchard.  There are only a few tangerine trees left; however, campers can find lots of different fruit trees and vines producing year-around on the property.  Early apricots, cherries, and grapes give way to tangerines, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, pomegranates, and pomelos in the fall. In order to raise funds to provide medical attention, food, vaccinations, and/or spay/neuter for the dogs (and the occasional cat, tortoise, bird, possum, calf, etc.), I paint items with my "doodles" and have other items listed on Etsy under Kokopelli Moon.  I have recent projects on site. It's a lot of work to keep up with the property and kennel maintenance.  We depend on volunteers to help, but it’s hard to find folks who can help.  We have several kennels and fenced areas; and to date have rescued and re-homed over 650 dogs.  Our main mission is to save those who have been injured, abandoned, and have special needs.  Some of our dogs have become service dogs and comfort dogs; one, Mr Harold (aka Chance) is now a mascot for a disabled children's school.  He even has his own business card as a "Canine Ambassador". We work closely with The Little Red Dog Rescue out of Orange County, and several rescue organizations in the Bay Area.  We work with many, many rescue angels to save dogs from high-kill shelters and work as a team of drivers and pilots to get them veterinary assistance and into forever homes across the country.  Campers can interact with the rescue dogs if they so choose, helping to socialize them in order to make their next journey much easier.  We always accept donations and help, and can provide a receipt for your taxes.  The things we need most include paper towels, laundry detergent, puppy pads, crate blankets/old towels, and of course corn/soy/wheat/gluten-free dog food and treats, or help with spay/neuter/vaccinations/deworming/vetting.  Anything helps... especially when you choose to camp here with us.  We look forward to hosting you.  Safe journeys and please visit us!  Our address is 33512 Highway 190,  Springville, CA; exactly 1 mile above the River Island Golf Course.  Please note: we just got cell coverage with AT&T Yay!!! I run an extension cord to the campsites so that you can charge your phones. Groceries and other supplies are available at the Eagle Feather Trading Post 4 miles west of us, or at Gifford's Market 5 miles west of us in the town of Springville.  There are several restaurants in town, as well; however, the sidewalks curl up about 8:30 or 9:00 p.m.  The famous Springville Rodeo happens at the end of April.  The Apple Festival happens the third weekend in October, and is very popular.  There are many other festivities and events happening in the area year-round.  We've added ladder games and nets for badmitton and volleyball, and offer deep tissue massage by appointment. We also have kiddie pools! The rescue dogs and I thank you for supporting them by staying here at Kokopelli Moon Rescue.  We save as many as we can.......                                           ...until they all have a home.......

We had a nice quiet stay. We saw hawks, deer, coyotes on the property, and ringtails right up the road. The stars were brilliant even through the smoky haze. There was some barking which we expected, but it quieted down pretty well. Over all we had a very pleasant stay.

A couple buddies and I stayed here for one night because we wanted to go see the sequoias. Jonel was SUPER friendly and kind when we arrived and made sure we felt at home throughout our entire stay. It's only about an hour out, so the dive isn't bad. It's a worth it stay even just to hang out at the site.

Jonel was very helpful and accommodating! We weren’t able to arrive until 1:30am the first night, and she stayed up to show us in and was more than understanding.

Jonel was a great host and we loved the site. Jonel was very welcoming when we got there! There were two nice patio areas with picnic tables, chairs, and a covered area which was great for eating meals. Very quiet at night and it's a good location if you are visiting Sequoia National Park.

Jonel was a wonderful host! She came and greeted us when we arrived and had a table all set up for us. The portal potty was clean for a portal potty and the space was beautiful! It was about one hour from the sequoia National Park entrance but the drive wasn’t bad. Definitely would recommend!

My family had a nice stay for two nights at Kokopelli Moon Rescue. Jonel was a great host, very kind, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable about the area. We made it to Sequoia National Park's Foothill Visitor Center in about 1.5 hours using directions Jonel provided (our mini-van is not the fastest). Jonel offered us water and power connections, and there was a clean porta-potty. We met a few of the cute animals that live with her or were being sheltered there until they found a new home. It was very peaceful, lots of birds, and an owl living in a palm tree on the property. We found an owl pellet with some prey skeletons in it at the base of the tree, which was very cool for us science geeks.

A kid's view of some tall trees at the national park...Sequoia National Park was beautiful. The shaded deck was a nice place to sit and eat meals. Our daughter loved staying at Kokopelli Moon Rescue, and meeting the dogs and cats. Jonel has a book to capture guest's impressions of Kokopelli.
