Munro and Eloise have a special spot near the most majestic trees on earth at Humboldt Redwood State park. Their property is "off the grid" and they grow most of their own food. Incredibly resourceful people and very inspiring! Accommodations are extremely comfortable, and there's a refreshing river nearby to cool off in the summer when the temps can climb. Highly recommended!

My visit to Munro's farm was awesome. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs an escape from day-to-day life and wants to better connect with the land and themselves. I stayed in a storage container that has been converted into a cozy cabin with a wood stove and comfy bed, and I am already planning on visiting again. My favorite parts were being able to pick fresh food from the veggie gardens and orchards and eating right from the earth, as well as visiting with the many animals living on the farm (like goats, turkeys, sheep, and more).
Munro's homestead was my first experience with permaculture but in a short time I was able to learn a lot about the history of the property and some of his future plans to evolve the farm in order to become even more self-sustainable. If you are interested in the principles of permaculture or have no experience with it at all, Munro's farm is perfect to either gain hands-on experience or simply be introduced. I couldn't recommend it enough.
Enjoy your visit!

This stay was a magical oasis, nestled between magical redwood forest with trails and the river, on a lovely, open meadow. I only wish I could have stayed a full week to really get involved in the farm tasks. Beautiful bathhouse, fresh farm eggs and strawberries, refreshing river dips, gardening tasks, and a wonderful, truly farm to table lunch were the hilights for me.

Munro's land - he calls Humboldt Experience Farmstay - is paradise on a river surrounded by old growth redwoods. It is in the heart of Humboldt County and is accommodating and giving. The farm is a real, working farm and the folks we met there were wonderful and smart. We stayed in the cabin, but it was like we stayed on all the land. River access with river beach is magical! We hope to visit every year as a ceremony. We stayed in Munro's beautiful cabin, but we would rent the bigger space for more days next year! Loved, loved, loved this spot! We are so blessed to have discovered it with Hipcamp. Thanks again! Thanks to Munro.

The unit exceeded my expectations. If you have time, ask about the farmstay discount. I stayed for a week, volunteered mon to fri from 9am to noon, and in exchange paid half the price. Plus I got a super yummy, farm fresh meal every day. The hosts are generous, kind, and helpful and I enjoyed learning about permaculture and homesteading while working with them. The animals are the most beautiful and friendly I’ve ever seen, I personally made great friends with Ozzy the goat. Regarding the room, it’s comfortable with a nicely sized bed, and I had no trouble sleeping. It’s a pretty quiet area. I totally recommend staying at humboldt experience farmstay and if you do, you must take the short, less than 5 minute walk, to the river right next door. It’s gorgeous and great fun to swim in.
