Welcome to the Honeycomb Hut! Nestled in the foothills of Nevada County, this cabin is the perfect getaway underneath the pine trees.  This is a peaceful retreat while still being close to town and outdoor activities.  Located on six acres, this beautiful hut was handcrafted with rough-hewn cedar planks. The inside of the hut is super cozy, with two wicker armchairs, a table, a propane fueled stove for heat, and a platform and a mattress with a bottom sheet (no bedding or pillows provided). There are skylights for stargazing, and a giant picture window that looks out on a meadow filled with wild rose bushes.  Outside, there are two chairs and benches, as well as an outdoor sink. This hut is wonderful in both summer and in the colder months, as the outdoor space gives plenty of room to spend time in the sunshine, while the indoor propane stove makes everything warm and cozy when it is chilly outside.

This hut is located one mile from downtown Nevada City, making it ideal for walking or biking to town. We are 45 minutes away from the closest ski resort.  It is the perfect amount of space for two people, and is wonderful for romantic or friend getaways. And perfect for one visitor as well!

This hut has running cold water and cell service, but no electricity, making for a true glamping experience. There are battery powered twinkle lights provided to add a little magic, but please bring battery powered or solar lanterns for more light. Please also bring lots of warm bedding as it gets chilly in the winter.

More Details-

Distance and Location:

-The house on the property and neighboring properties are visible from the hut, but the main house is 300 feet away and partially obscured, allowing everyone to retain privacy. There are curtains over the window if more privacy is desired.

-It is possible to park 150 feet away from the hut, allowing you to carry all your goods into the the hut easily.

-There is a dirt driveway 90 feet away that is partially obscured by trees and only used by one house. The door of the hut opens into the forest behind, and many deer like to wander past on their way to and from the meadow. There is plenty of animal and plant diversity surrounding the camp, and we often hear owls and see rabbits and foxes.

Etiquette:

-We do have neighbors, so we ask that you limit outside music after 9 PM and be courteous of noise.

-For fire safety concerns, we ask that you only use your camping stoves on the shelf next to the sink outside.

-For fire safety concerns, please don’t bring or burn any candles or incense.

-For fire safety concerns, we ask that nobody smoke on the premises.

-We ask that guests not wear shoes in the hut, so bring warm slippers or socks if your feet have a tendency to get cold!

-We ask that guests turn off the propane stove when not in the hut or when leaving the property.

We are located on Nisenan land, and want to honor the plants, animals, and humans who live here. There are so many beautiful activities and places to go around this area, please don’t hesitate to ask us if you need any suggestions! We have included an information packet with all our favorite things. We love this area and are happy to direct guests to the best places.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you for your Hipcamp experience!

This was our second stay at the Honeycomb Hut and it was absolutely wonderful. The location is great—just a short drive into town and to nearby trails. Staying here is a wonderful glamping experience — in the trees but with a comfortable bed and a clean outhouse bathroom.

This place was exactly the getaway for us. It was far enough to be unconnected from our daily life but close enough to the city and neighbors for us to feel safe from being inexperienced campers. From the city, we've never even been camping as adults. So having this beautiful hut near the main property was seriously perfect.

The directions were great with nice touches of signage so we felt taken care of. Elena set aside bundles of wood and we had a long evening of fire warmth. Inside the hut is quite spacious and the propane fireplace emitted enough heat for the night with a few blankets and wearing long underclothes.

Very nice property and would stay again!

Beautiful hut, close to main property, feels very safe Quaint room , well built, and perfect at night w the window and string lightsSpacious area for bonfire!

This was my first hipcamp stay and I'm so glad I chose Honeycomb Hut! The grounds were clean and everything looks just as the pictures. The firepit area was my favorite and I appreciated having an area by the sink to prep meals. The cabin was very cozy and was the perfect size for two people. The outhouse was also very clean. Elena and Catherine gave very clear instructions and we had no issues finding our way there nor had any issues during our stay. Thanks again!

Honeycomb Hut was the perfect place for a weekend away! The cabin was so beautifully decorated and cozy with the propane stove, and the table and sink setup allowed us to cook easily. I didn't realize that the firepit was $10 extra/night, but Elena was so kind to waive the fee when a minor inconvenience came up. We really appreciated all the recommendations and were able to go on a beautiful hike beside the Yuba (make sure to have 4WD), make it to Lake Tahoe, and explore Nevada City all from the hut and the recommendations.

We were two women and felt really safe in the cabin and staying on the land, which is not always true for camping. Would definitely recommend Honeycomb!

Love the Honeycomb Hut! This was my first Hipcamp experience and it was great. Elena and Catherine were so sweet and communicative. The hut was adorable and plenty warm enough with the little fireplace. Loved everything about our stay.

Lovely cabin! So charming and easy with running water and counter setup. Outdoor fire is the best. The hosts were so attentive providing more firewood as soon as we ran out.
