Enjoy our sweet 1 acre redwood grove and permaculture homestead; a cozy space to sleep and adventure from. 2 minute drive from the coast, our small country grocery and gas pump; 15 minutes to Mendocino village with full grocery, restaurants and shops. River access, trails, and beaches are all within 5-10 minute drive.

Accommodations: 6 inch memory foam Queen bed with cotton flannel sheets, down comforter, and wool blankets to stay warm on the chilly coastal nights. 2 battery op lanterns, night tables, and some floor cushions.  Cozy and sweet, but it's still camping! No charging stations, no wifi. We do not provide a shower. Composting toilet bathroom 1 minute walk across the meadow with potable water sink and dish washing station just outside it. You are allowed to bring and use a camp stove at the picnic table provided for you.

You're welcome to wander and check out the giant redwood stumps, ferns, and  banana slugs or make a warming fire in the fire pit dedicated to your space.

Our home, a long-term rental, and our other Hipcamp space, "Love Shack in the Coastal Redwoods" are also on the 1.5 acre homestead. All are decently private from each other, but you may see us out and about on the land, working and playing with our 3 year old. You have your own sweet corner of the redwood meadow facing toward the forest to enjoy and be as social or solitary as you desire.

If you have more than 2 people in your group, we'd recommend booking the Love Shack, which can house another 2 friends.

*Kids are welcome! They don't count toward the 2 person limit, but you will need to bring all extra bedding for them. You could comfortably fit 2 kids in addition to 2 adults.

*Pets are not welcome, unless they are a formally trained, licensed service animal. Dogs in particular have just been too disruptive to the land, the cat, the chickens, and our sweet little kid. Thank you for understanding. If you need it, there is a wonderful kennel about 15 minutes north of us to board your pup ;-)

What a beautiful spot to meet with an old friend, surrounded by tall
trees in a grassy meadow! Kim stayed in the yurt/tent, I in my van, and together we sat under the trees. The hosts were great and imagine a bathroom where you are created by delicious herb smells—plants growing right there—as you contemplate! We were so close to Little River park: we spent the day on the beach and in Mendo town. This place is a gem.

Such a sweet spot at Madeline's homestead. The tent was super comfy and spotlessly clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat when I am next on the Mendocino Coast!

This property was absolutely adorable and everyone we met was very personable and nice! The tent was in a perfect spot- just far enough away from the main house & tucked away among the amazing redwoods. Inside the tent was very spacious with standing room for two, lots of cozy blankets and the bed… the bed was SO comfortable! We got an amazing nights sleep. I wish we would have stayed longer.

Bell tent escape -- in the rain!

We stayed in the Bell Tent, and it was divine. It rained while we were there, and the staccato of raindrops on the canvas yurt overnight was incredible. It was decked out with a super cush mattress, flannel sheets and warm blankets, so even though the weather was not warm, the tent was perfect. Small touches were everywhere, but not overwhelming--extra blankets, good reading on the end tables, as well as some firewood and great chairs outside. The property even has a composting toilet!
The hosts are giving, wonderful people with warm spirits. We were greeted upon arrival by Thunder, the resident cat. After making sure everything was in order, he went back to hunting, and Maddie came out to check on us. She was very accommodating and generous, showed us the lay of the land, and made sure we had everything we needed.
The property is, of course, gorgeous. I got the "Potion Making" option for both of us, and it was incredible. Just getting to hang out with someone who has such an infectious love, respect, and care for nature would've been worth the extra time and investment. Maddie gave us a great overview of permaculture and the relationship we could (should) have with flora all around us, and then introduced us to many of her friends living there on the property. Our potion was not a remedy in the sense I expected, but rather ended up being a snapshot of our stay and that specific moment in time.
We'll be going back--to the love shack next time!

This little property is am absolute gem!! My wife and I came to stay in the beautiful meadow tent. After entering this well taken care of property that instantly feels comfortable and homely we where greeted by our awesome, friendly and easy going host Madeleine. She gave us a quick tour grounds and let us checkout this absolutely incredible renovated 1950’s trailer (just so happened to not be booked at the time of our stay) she let us upgrade for the additional difference making out visit cozy and extra comfortable thanks to the wood stove and beautiful atmosphere. We will absolutely be back the next time we need a quick get away from the bay area. Thank you again Madeline and family!!

Absolutely one of the best stays we have ever had! Madeline and her family are absolutely wonderful, and their property is beautiful. The tent itself is warm, comfortable, and has a very comfy bed. This was the perfect relaxing retreat for us towards the end of a long road trip!
