This is a homestead, we have roosters, guinea fowl and turkeys that go off at different hours of the day, so be aware that you will get a free early morning alarm clock! there are also many other forest birds which is a joy to hear in the morning. We have a dog named Gruffy and if needed he will be tied during your stay so no worries about bringing pets, just let us know ahead of time, but he does bark at times as all dogs do :) We grow organic food and practice organic, non-GMO methods. We offer firewood, which is whatever available so it can be almond or pine, pine is basic wood for a camp fire and almond is great for cooking, smoking and BBQ as well as it burns longer because it's a hardwood. Please note the way to the farm is a quarter of a mile on a dirt road which is somewhat bumpy and uneven but definitely ok for any sedan, any vehicle that is not bigger than 20 foot RV can make it here no problem.

Seasoned camper here- This stay was one of my favorite so far, that I even decided to extend the trip by a second night! Booked this site on a whim without much research. This homestead is under 3 hours drive from Los Angeles and enjoys a much fairer climate. Tons of forestry and mountainous views with the most wildlife I’ve encountered camping in California. Neighbors have turkeys, who might come over to peek into your tent. Terrain can be a little steep and rocky into the village and also on the homestead- 4WD not compulsory but recommended. Firewood is available on site for a fee, but 7-11 in Lake Isabella (30 mins away) also has some.
When booking, do note that this is truly off grid with no cell service, WiFi or GPS. It does get cold at night so prepare well and there shouldn’t be a problem. Lots of bugs, including red ants and beetles, which were a delight to me as a nature lover, but be warned to keep food sealed and skin covered if this bothers you.
Danny was very welcoming and accessible- the family lives up the hill from site #1 so it was good to know that help was nearby if an animal tried to eat me at night (unfortunately did not happen). Delivered firewood in a wheelbarrow and gave up some good recommendations for the towns nearby. Bakersfield is just under an hour away, where there are tons of antique stores and sights to see. It is a large Californian city, comes with everything you’d expect from it.

the fire pit is just a shallow hole on the ground
Not really a scenic view around the area
All other activities are outside of the site
There were no cats at our site :(
Also there is one scary dog that came and ate our food

Thank you for addressing these issues, the site is always a work in progress and we plan to improve on many things this summer, the site you stayed in is more secluded and has less mountain view, apologies for the dog, the activities are mentioned in the description as all 20 minutes away in lake isabella.
Great clean and quiet campground. Super appreciated the fire pit because most of the camp sights in kern you cannot have a fire.

Glad you enjoyed your stay.
It's quiet and simple. Great bargain for the price.

Glad you enjoyed your stay :)
Overall it was a great and quiet place in nature (what we were looking for). Unfortunately all the mentioned activity’s were only reachable by car, like the hot springs.
The campsite has everything you need (toilet, water), but it’s pretty basic.

In the description it mentioned that activities are 20 minutes away...
Best trip ever. The site and location were exactly as we’d hoped and Danny was a wonderful host

You're very welcome, really glad you enjoyed your stay :)
Loved this site! Danny was very welcoming and I was able to order some firewood before arriving. Directions were clear and the site was easy to find. the road coming in felt a little narrow, but it is do-able.
The site includes a bench and a fire pit. There are large trees covering and plenty of shade. There is a composting toilet and Danny provides directions on how to use it and clean up afterwards. There is also a water hose to help you wash dishes, put out the fire, or refill your water bottles.
There was plenty of space and level ground for a tent or car camping.
The neighborhood was quiet and night and you don't even realize that there are neighbors, the site feels very secluded.
Recommended activities:
Stargazing! You can see so many stars, there is plenty of open air space between the trees.
Set up a campfire! Ask Danny about buying firewood
Head out to Miracle Hot Springs about 30 min away.

Thank you for staying with us, love the pictures you took, extra kudos for taking that early morning shot when the sun just comes up behind the mountain, superb!
Found this place super last minute after not finding a single campground in the sequoias due to forest closures. With that said, Camping here couldn’t have gone any better! Danny was super accommodating and he even showed us how to shoot a bow and arrow. Overall I would definitely recommend!

Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Danny was a great host. Our group of 7 had so much fun and the kids loved the archery. Plenty of shade and very peaceful. The only downside was the toilet situation but the hosts lists everything in the description. We will most definitely be back! Thanks you!
