Peaceful cabin on the river
Gina was a dream host! I had a lot of questions before booking, more than normal because it was a brand new listing with no reviews. Gina responded promptly and had everything ready to go when I arrived. The bed is extremely comfortable and cozy, the kitchen had a dishwasher which is one of my favorite appliances because I love to cook. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the basics; oil, salt, pepper, pots, pans, dishes, papertowels, dish soap, trash bags, even coffee. There is no WiFi or cell service at the cabin but there was TV with dish network. Gina and her husband greeted me on arrival, explained where everything was and where I could get WiFi service (down the hill next to their house) so I could text and use Wi-Fi calling. The cabin is very private. Gina and her husband made themselves available if needed, but were very respectful of my privacy and left me to own devices. Cabin has a front and back deck, with a nice propane BBQ. I was able to try fresh eggs from their chickens (delicious!) And my favorite part was feeding apples and tomatoes to the resident piggy, Jimmy. Cabin was comfortable and well insulated. Stayed cool during the day and warm at night. I did a day trip to Ashland, OR and drove the loop through Fort Jones the next day. Lots of driving out in these rural parts. I highly recommend you fill up your gas tank anytime you see a gas station. The nearest town/gas station was 45 to Yreka from Gina's cabin. Although there was a convenience store/deli about 10 minutes up the road. Highly recommend you buy eggs when you get to Gina's and that you bring sunscreen, bug spray and folding/camping type chairs so you can sit down at the river. Gina has another hipcamp listing available on her property called the Treehouse. The cabin is much more private and set apart from their main house, however the tree house has the superior view the the river. The treehouse is bigger than it looks in her photos and has an outdoor kitchen. If you're looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway (perhaps a writers retreat) look no further!
Clean, safe, quiet on the klamath!
Anyone traveling beautiful highway 96 along the Klamath between 5 and Willow Creek who is looking for a safe, clean, and comfortable cabin, Gina's Country Cabin is a good choice. This cabin is small but was a perfect quiet spot for two adults and two dogs. Joe was kind enough to show me around his property and we had plenty of peace and quiet after a long day on the road.
