Open Land Sites

Garth's Boulder Garden is really amazing. It exceeded the expectations that I had based on what you is shown in the listing. Campsites are far enough apart (and the property is huge) that you feel like you have your own secluded area but you're still a short walk away from a water spigot or porta potty. When we arrived on Friday the porta potty was the cleanest one I had ever been in - no smell, really clean, stocked with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and lit with LEDs inside so you don't have to worry about finding it at night. With that said, by the time Saturday evening rolled around more people had arrived and it was as expected - your typical public porta. Nonetheless, there are accessible porta-potties! The property is immaculate and well kept. The boulders are really amazing to see and explore and there are lots of little surprises by Garth's teepee. The Garth and Kyle also have some really friendly dogs that roam around. We brought our dog (who isn't well socialized and stayed on leash) and didn't have any issues with the property's dogs. The two kitchens were clean and cooking supplies were available as well as coffee at the upper one in the morning. Kyle was a friendly, informative and helpful host. He waited for our two cars to arrive at 10 and 11pm and led us to our site and gave us lots of information about the property and geology. The only downside is that you can't build a private campfire at your site but there are large shared fire rings that are stocked with firewood. 10/10 would recommend staying here!

We could not have picked a better campsite during our visit to Joshua Tree. It actually felt like we were inside JT Park with all the massive boulders and the huge patch of Joshua trees on the road leading to the Boulder Gardens.

We camped with our VW Vanagon and there was plenty of space and privacy.

Kyle was a great host! We had a very late arrival, and he was super helpful and communicative.

Absolute magic. I feel very fortunate to have stayed here.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved this spot it was exactly what we were hoping for. We wanted a private spot where we could camp and get some privacy and there was plenty of space here. Kyle was awesome and brought us to all the different spots we might like but gave us the freedom to really camp anywhere with all the space they have. I easily managed to drive there in my 2008 Toyota Yaris which has barely any clearance so any car can make it down the dirt road. Also they had one of the cleanest porta potties I have ever been in which was icing on the cake. At night we saw some of the best stars I’ve seen too. We will for sure come back again!

We had a great time. Everyone was very friendly and the landscape was beautiful.

We were super glad we didn't camp at the national park. This was way better or intimate and with a communal bonfire that invites you to connect to amazing people ♥️

Gorgeous terrain, epic sunsets, extremely friendly and interesting people to meet at the community kitchen- this was a camping experience like no other. We arrived to find a well groomed campsite already to go. We had adequate running water, a nearby bathroom, even a shower a short hike away. There is a sauna, a magnetic rock garden, and a drum circle with very chill, fun-loving people.
If you come in the middle of summer like we did, be aware of the direction of the sunrise, and try to pitch your tent in the shade.

My partner and I stayed here for her birthday, and both of us were beyond pleased. Highly recommended. The campsite was breathtaking and amenities were perfect. This place has an energy about it that is truly special. Garth’s vision for this property, and his love for sharing the magic it holds with people, are a blessing that more of the world needs to experience. We will be back!
