An idyllic piece of land situated in beautiful Bolinas, Judy and Dale's fairytale property was exactly what I was looking for in my first Hipcamp experience: a restful, rejuvenating respite among nature. As a woman traveling alone, I felt completely safe on the peaceful property, surrounded by flowers, hummingbirds, and honeybees. Judy and Dale were friendly, respectful, and knowledgable, with helpful suggestions and recommendations for the local area. Hiking, surfing, fishing, MTB - this gorgeous corner of Marin County is an outdoor sports enthusiast's paradise, and a nature lover's dream. I was also able to catch one of Judy's inspiring art shows at the gallery in downtown Bolinas, and enjoyed listening to Dale's lovely clarinet playing as I packed up the campsite on a Sunday morning. Be sure to check out the delicious Coast Cafe, which often features live music, while you are there; the walk into town along the coast is just beautiful. I hope to return to this incredibly special place in the near future.
I loved staying at the garden by the sea! The garden you get to camp in is so beautiful with lots of flowers and berries and the instructions were perfectly clear for arriving. All the beaches are also very close by and pretty. Judy and Dale were also very helpful by giving us plenty of recommendations for the Bolinas plus surrounding areas!
super quiet away and from cell service, with fog and morning drizzle. Tucked away behind a shed and foliage making it have plenty of privacy. unfortunately, my own fault in poor scheduling, I was only able to stay from the evening to the early morning so I didn't get to enjoy the daytime, I suspect there's plenty of birds and butterflies flapping around. it's a really peaceful place.

I loved being able to camp here! What a special place! But the neighbors in the yurt could see thru the fence so I wasn’t able to… take care of some business that I needed to. Not the end of the world but… also not healthy 😬
Nice little private campsite, tucked away. It felt like a secret garden.
The site gets moist and chilly at night - be sure to use your tent cover and a tarp for under your tent. We were happy that we brought lanterns.
Kind hosts with a lot of tips about the area. Many chairs and a table to put your things on was a nice bonus. There is a shower with cold water and a little toilet, in the open air. It was wonderful. <3
Loved our stay at Judy and Dale’s. Their garden is wonderful, even when not fully in bloom. The space for the tent is perfectly secluded. Super close to town and very quiet. Would definitely recommend.
Great stay! Private and super charming, a nice walk to the beach, and it was great meeting Judy and Dale. We’ll surely be back :)
This site was just lovely. It was surrounded by flowers, bees, and hummingbirds, and just so peaceful. It had a good level of privacy due to all the surrounding vegetation. The shower was cold but very refreshing! The composting toilet worked just fine for us. The surrounding area was very beautiful, just a few minute walk to the ocean. Dale was very friendly and told us about the history of the nearby town. All in all, a great experience!
This is a gem of place and part of me wants to keep it a secret! To find a private camping place in Bolinas is rare and this spot is exactly that; a rare find.
It was private, quiet and beautiful. I had never used Hip Camp before and wasn't sure what the place would be like. I wondered if there would be other campers/tents, but it was just for us. The space is tucked away, in beautiful flowers and foliage. There were bees buzzing in the blackberry bushes, hummingbirds zinging about and the ground was carpeted in African daisies. The tent space was secluded.
As an avid camper, I found the compostable toilet and cold-water shower to be added bonuses, not something to complain about.
I know other reviewers mentioned that there are sounds coming from the neighboring yard, however I didn't hear any and thought the space was blissfully quiet - especially for the 4th of July weekend!
The lot is quite large with a lot of privacy. It was within easy walk to the bluffs overlooking the Pacific and a nice walk into town. The hosts were a perfect blend of warm and friendly and respectful of our space.
I look forward to my next visit and feel grateful that this place exists!
