Near Redwood National Park
Within a 30-minute drive from the Hiouchi Visitor Center.
The campground land is remotely located on private property and perfectly located for excursions to the Pacific Ocean, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, the Smith River National Recreation Area, and the Pacific Coast Ranges and mountain lakes such as the Devil's Punchbowl, Buck Lake, and Raspberry Lake. Relax and free you mind while camping on 119 acres of private property under starry skies with almost no light or noise pollution. In the surrounding area you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, surfing, mushrooming, berry-picking, beachcombing, birdwatching, and countless other outdoor activities. The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and campers are provided with 5 gallons of potable water, an outdoor, cold-water Artesian shower, and an outhouse. Bundles of wood are available for an extra charge when you book. The campsites are set within a deciduous and pine forest at about 1913 feet in elevation. There is a pond on the property, but its purpose is for wildlife habitat only so no water activities are permitted (that is, no swimming, fishing, boating, etc.) The property owner has a dog, two cats, and a menagerie of yard birds such as turkeys, peacocks, guinea hens, chickens, ducks, geese, etc. Kirk has lived off-grid for over twenty years and holds a wealth of information about the Gasquet / Del Norte County area. Perhaps the most interesting feature of the property is that it has had documented Sasquatch encounters over the past twenty years that have been published in "Tribal Bigfoot" (D. Paulides 2009). Both campground managers, Kirk and Carlos, can tell you about their experiences with this and other phenomena on the property.

Perfect Spot!
We loved camping in the fisher spot, gorgeous land and area! We were a quick drive to awesome fishing spots and hiking in Jedediah. Kirk's land is high up enough that we heard no road noise, had a wonderful view of the stars at night, and a fantastic view of the mists over the river as we headed out each morning. I HIGHLY recommend staying at this campsite, it was perfect for exploring the area! For amenities, the campsites had access to the spring water via a hose right by the campsites, a compost toilet that was always clean, and a good deal of firewood for the price! Theres a general store down the highway with anything you could need (including hot coffee, baked goods, ice blocks, etc). I think the fisher and woozle sites were the best of the bunch.

Fisher site review
Beautiful site in the middle of the redwoods, nice and private, very comfortable. Kirk was amazing, he even stopped by and spent some time with us to chat about his Bigfoot experiences. The sites are close together, great for groups if you book multiple. All amenities were clean and abundant, loved that they provided 5gals of drinking water straight from the spring so we didn't have to pack it. The Fisher site has a little tucked in alcove for the tent, and had decent shade. Some mosquitoes, so bring your repellant. We loved our experience!

Impressed
I was impressed with how clean and organized the camp was. We were provided with drinking water, bucket of water to put out campfire, and a picnic table. The host was kind when I drove to his house instead of the camp, he told me the correct driveway to turn onto, and then came to camp to make sure we were settled in and gave us a tour. We had a great time camping and the site was conveniently located near the Redwoods.

Directions were good, composting toilet was clean and odor free. We stayed at Fisher and it had some nice privacy. Cougar is near thr restroom and little privacy. The sites are very close to each other, but reasonable privacy in 3 out of the 4 sites

Didn't want to leave
Awesome experience. The site is good for 10x10 tents and smaller. We had a 10x14 tent and it was a really tight fit. The site had water and firewood ready which was amazing. This was our family's first camping trip together and this was perfect. The toilet setup was really convenient as well. It's also right down the street from river access and trails through Redwood. I would suggest a tip jar. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away and disconnect.
