We only accomodate one party at a time.  Dogs welcome off leash!  Besides the natural beauty, everyone notices the QUIET.  But you can bring your rock band!   Amazing stars, too!

FOREST SPRINGS:  55 scenic miles northeast of Redding, we are 160 acres in far northern California, surrounded by Shasta National Forest, near lakes and hot springs, with many shady hiking trails in the lush and varied forest on our property, along our creeks, to our small lake and into the surrounding national forest.  Maps provided.

June 15 to Sept 15, we fill the sun-warmed splash pool (24" deep) where guests like to relax in the afternoon. It is cleaned and refilled between guest groups.  For a large group, we also fill a 2nd splash pool.

PETS:  Dogs are welcome off leash!  They enjoy playing in the mowed part of the meadow next to the guesthouse, as well as in our private creeks and lake.  Dog sheets, towels and bowls provided.  Pet fee.

For guests who want to visit places off the property where dogs can't (such as the hot springs, Burney Falls and Lake Britton), we offer a huge (100' x 50') secure fenced pen with shade trees.  Of course, well-behaved dogs may also stay in the guesthouse.

Guesthouse RATES per night: 1 person $140, 2 people $165;   each additional person $15;   $10 per dog  (plus tax) collected at check-in.   3-night minimum.   Weekly rate is pay for 6 nights & the 7th is free.

Off the property but nearby are hot springs, swimming holes, 2 larger lakes for boating and fishing, and impressive waterfalls. We are 1 1/2 hours by car both from Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen National Park.

Driving times are about 4 hours from Sacramento, 4 1/2 from Berkeley, 5 from San Francisco or Santa Rosa, 3 1/2 from Medford, and 4 from Reno.  There is 1-hour jet service from San Francisco to Redding airport (symbol RDD) which has car rentals.

The quiet garden GUESTHOUSE, semi-secluded near meadows and forest, has a carport, splash pool with mountain views, chairs, lounge chairs, picnic tables, fire pits and BBQ under the oaks; free briquettes & firewood.  Its rustic siding belies the modern interior which is affordably simple, clean and comfortable with 3 spacious rooms plus bathroom.

The airy bedroom has a queen canopy bed and twin bed, both with premium mattress sets. The living room has a large queen sofa bed with memory-foam mattress, air cooler or gas furnace in season, 43" flat-screen TV, DVD player and movies for all ages (no tv reception). The kitchen has a gas stove-top, a large refrigerator/freezer, microwave, small oven (fits 12" pizza), coffee-maker, toaster, cookware, dishes, utensils, and a dinette set seating 6. We supply paper towels, napkins, salt, pepper, sugars, dish washing stuff, ice cubes and garbage bags.  We request that the appliances and dishes be left clean like you found them.

The splash pool is sun-warmed and is emptied, cleaned and refilled between guest groups from June 15 to September 15.  A 2nd splash pool is also filled for large groups.  They are 24" deep.  Children must be supervised at all times.  The one by the guesthouse has views across the meadow to forest and mountains, has a shade umbrella, hose, table & bench.  Next to it is a grape-vine covered arbor affording shaded seating with great views.

For larger parties, we offer 2 upstairs bedrooms in the historic 1921 log house across the garden from the guesthouse.  The West Room has a queen-size brass bed and the East Room has a queen bed and a twin canopy bed, all with premium mattress sets.  The shared bathroom is downstairs.  The log house has no guest kitchen.  Lodging in the historic log house is at an additional charge of $10 per person per night, plus tax.  This would be collected at check-in.  Regretfully, pets and/or children under the age of 12 may not be lodged in the log house.

We also offer tent and RV camping.

From the pavement, we are at the end of a 1 1/2 mile decent gravel road, no 4-wheel drive needed unless towing. Our terrain is mostly gently rolling to flat with   2 mild hills, elevation about 2500’

I absolutely loved Guesthouse! Colette is a gracious host and provides excellent information not only to get to the property, but also for the trails around the property.

Loooooooooved the place, the host, and the surrounding area. The guesthouse is very private with a splash pool facing the woods. I mean seriously, if that's not perfect I don't know what is.
Collette was so nice and provided everything we needed and more. And my favorite part is how close it is to swimming holes and the hot springs. Would definitely come back to this palce!

It's a beautiful place surrounded by mountains. If you want to really get into the woods and be with nature & have complete privacy, this is the place. Splash pool facing woods, you can literally lay in the pool for hours looking at the woods. There is a lake on the property, very beautiful and is all yours. Water is cold, so no swimming. There is a small boat and host gave us floating vests and rows.

The only caveat is the puppy on the property.
Collete did told us about the puppy & it's very sweet and friendly with people. But its too friendly, and it's annoying. It's very young, not trained completely and very hyperactive with guests. It wouldn't stop running around & be jumping on to the guests. You can't enjoy the beauty of the property with the puppy is around. We couldn't stay out for long on the first evening, but the next day Collete understood and she put it on a leash and inside her gated home during the day (Somehow it got out a couple of times). I am sure, the puppy will be trained soon and will behave nicely.
I am looking forward to visiting this place again with my close friend once I confirm that the puppy got trained.

Thank you, Vijay, for your patience with our 5-month old pup. As I wrote you privately, I am so, so sorry she got out of the yard wanting to play, and jumped on your mother's nice clothes. Now, our Australian Shepherd pup is almost one year old and is a lot calmer. Also, we now have a huge (100' x 50') secure fenced pen with shade trees and a cozy shed for her to stay in when guests and/or their dogs do not want to interact with her. This pen is also available for guest dogs when guests want to go off the property to places where dogs can't. Of course, well-behaved guest dogs can also stay in the guesthouse.

We enjoyed our time here and it was so wonderful to meet our host Colette and her dog! They were just so welcoming and helpful throughout our weekend getaway! If you get a chance you should definitely hike around her trails and see the gorgeous lake!

Forest Springs Getaway was amazing! Quiet seclusion in the beautiful forest was just what we needed for 3 nights! Colette is a gracious and accommodating host. There is nothing to want for as she has thought of everything! Unplug from the world and come get away from it all here !

The lake, More of a pond, don't recommend swimming or fishing due to alot of algae and weeds, and tons of mosquitoes! its cute though!Everyone loves the open spaces The meadow view from the guesthouse, that's a sun warmed dunk pool! In the large meadow

Forest Springs is a bit of a journey to get to, but well worth it. My family and I drove our small car to the sight and had to go quite slow the last few miles due to the road conditions. But once we arrived, the place was so very beautiful and pristine. Lots of wildlife! Rowing on the small lake filled with trout was a particularly fun treat. So are the nearby hot springs. Colette knows all the best places and provides wonderfully hand-drawn maps to get around. We loved it!

My husband and I loved the total seclusion and quiet of this campsite on our anniversary get-away. Our nature walk through the property down along the creek was gorgeous and tranquil. I could have stayed along the creek all day, enjoying the sound of the babbling water and the woodsy smell of the foliage. We'd like to go again with the rest of the family next time, and stay longer. Our host, Colette, made us feel like we'd known her forever... totally sweet and kindhearted.

Colette was incredibly good at explaining the drive, location, experience I would have and the grounds.
Everything was impeccable and exactly as she wrote.
I felt very much like I was a guest in someone's beloved home/farm.
Walking through the garden, the orchard and meeting sweet Daphne (the dog) was so warming.
The cute paths and trails that end in the natural hotsprings or little lake were so incredibly beautiful!
I tried to walk barefoot as much as possible except on the rocks/pebbles and I did get plenty of foot to ground connection.
The trees here are majestic, so I embraced all I could from this most divine energy.
Despite being very warm, I loved it.. Coming from windy, cold East Bay... I craved the warmth.
In the evening it cooled down a lot so I wore sweat pants and a light jacket to lie on Colette's lounge chairs to gaze at the sky.
Forgot the emotion and profound awe that the sky inspires in me...
The whole experience was so perfect!
Privacy and conversation when I walked up to her cabin to ask a question and total peace there.
I truly can't wait to go back!
One of my favorite experiences was listening to Colette tell the story of the first family there and their tumultuous lives.
They built a huge barn that is still standing there... I couldn't get enough of it! Built in the early 1900's.
Colette offered her landline if needed (no cell range... yeaaaayyy) and a ride back from the hotsprings....
We hiked it back and it was all uphill...
I couldn't stop admiring the freshness of it all and the fact that this is there every day... while I suffer in the city! LOL
For the return hike from the hot springs... if you're stubborn like us to not accept her ride back... make sure you take enough water and electrolytes after soaking in the warm (or hot, you choose) springs and the sun for hours.
I loved it... what more can I say!!!

Close up of the bird house which is occupied by a mama bird and her babies!Didn’t take more than a few pics, wanted to enjoy and not worry about the phone. But this one did get taken soaking in the hot springs!Kept seeing a bird fly by the guest house and heard little chirps... they’re nesting in there!

We were two couples that wanted to get away for a weekend where we could breathe fresh air, relax and hike all day. Colette exceeded our expectations. The cabin was a homey off the grid feel. Everything was beautiful on the property and it really felt like we had the place to ourselves. Colette was as sweet as can be as well as her very nice dog who was our personal tour guide on all he hikes.

Please note that the last two miles are dirt and VERY loose gravel and not great for cars that ride low to the ground, but the adventure was well worth it!!

Thank you Colette!!!
