My boyfriend and I had a great stay at Forest Serenity Retreat! The place is beautiful, the cabin has everything you need and Vanessa is a super helpful and lovely host! She helped us out with great recommendations for things do to and restaurants/bars, highly appreciated!
Great location. Close to Yuba River and Scott’s flat. Private location with all the amenities you might need (cookware, blankets, pillows, etc.) and plenty of space for our family of four!

Incredible place! The mosquitoes aren't as bad as other reviewers made them out to be. You can tell Vanessa and her family love the cabin and that makes it feel really comfortable. The creek is a little tricky to get into, but it's really nice having a little pool to cool off in.
Hipcamp is fun. The Cabin reflects the owners desire to provide what you need to have a fun experience. We met Vanessa and her two boys and they couldn't have been friendlier.
It's a quiet location so a little noise , if your so inclined, won't bother the neighbors.
Just arriving at the camp is an adventure in itself., don't forget the Red Fence.
Vanessa was a wonderful host my family and I had a wonderful time. Yuba River is near by and it is absolutely beautiful. I would definitely recommend😀

The mosquitos were terrible. We booked 3 nights but only stayed one because we got eaten alive. Even just opening door to go in and out of cabin to get our dinner they would get in. There was no escaping. I had hopes in morning that I could enjoy being outside but it didn’t get any better even in the morning. We couldn’t have a fire which I knew was seasonal but that is one camping thing we look forward to. The cabin itself looks nicer in pics posted than it actually is. It’s very small and we squeezed in 4. I would even try 5. . The cabin actually looks glued together in places. The kitchen set is great, Outhouse clean, and shower is on their property up hill. The dirt road is a little rough if you have a low clearance vehicle. However, Vanessa reassured me that a lot of low clearance cars have made it. She is a nice host that communicates well it just didn’t work for us! Maybe it would fit others with lots of mosquito repellent and a nice campfire.
We had a wonderful time staying here, very private, quiet, and well equipped. The host was very communicative and always available to answer questions, so that made us feel welcomed. Just be prepared for MOSQUITOES and BLACK BEARS and OUTDOOR #1'S (only #2 allowed in the outhouse) and check with the host about campfire before your trip. Make sure to read the additional instructions the host will send you on the day of the stay, even if it might make you carsick. (My only wish was to actually have received this info before the trip, as it's not found in the information from Hipcamp, and really long!)
Despite the fact that there was a fire ring and pit, NO camp fire was allowed. We found this out after asking the host if they have firewood to purchase. if the campfire was NOT allowed and advertised that way on the site, we were ok... but we chose this place since campfire was allowed. We were looking for a site that allows campfire, so that was a let down. NO #1 pee allowed at their toilet pit. Only # allowed. It is suggested to use anyplace for #1 under the tree in the middle of the night. Outdoor toilet has a glass see-through door so that was really weird. You will definitely need 4WD vehicle to access to the cabin even after a small rain. No trails to go the the stream, could not even find a animal path to go down to the creek. Need to bring all mosquito repellants, The site has no breeze and very muggy area. Cabin is overlooking a creek which was covered with wild life that you will not see where the creek is. Only a small trickling sound suggests there's are water running a bit further down.
