Fjellgård Ranch is perched on a mountaintop overlooking the North Fork Cosumnes River Valley, with views looking East toward the Crystal Range, Pyramid Peak, and Desolation Wilderness. We have approx. 3 miles of trails to wander on, with beautiful, towering oaks and pines. This is only an open site, and no water or electricity is provided. Brand new outhouse is available for use. Site 1 is reserved for car camping, unless all others are booked. For sites 2-6, we ask that you unload your car in the unloading area close to the campsites, and park in the parking lot about 50 feet away. We'd like you and everyone to enjoy the pristine landscape and sweeping views without them being obstructed by vehicles.
We have a very quiet and peaceful homestead, with just nature sounds to enjoy. There is no noise from highways. However from time to time you will hear some power tools or occasional gunshots from distant neighbors target practicing. While our neighbors' houses are distant, our property borders on several others. Please respect our neighbors' property & privacy and never cross fence lines.
Visits to our goat herd, chickens, and guardian dog available upon request and appointment. All goats were bottle fed, lovingly raised, and like new friends! As our dog is a vigilant protector, we need to make sure proper introductions are made. She definitely wants to meet you! For this reason we do not allow other dogs on the property. All animals are kid friendly and like lots of pets and scratches.
If you are more into glamping, please see Ridgetop Acorn Clubhouse on Air B & B. We have a one bedroom rental with full bath, kitchen, and living room.
There are easy drives to the Cosumnes River, Apple Hill, Shenandoah/Amador Wineries, Sly Park Recreation Area/Lake Jenkinson, American River, Oldtown Placerville, and South Lake Tahoe. There is a lot of Goldrush history sites and we can recommend some, upon request. Coloma, the historical town and site where gold was first discovered, is about 35 minutes away. There is no river access through our property.

Our stay at Jonesy & Marie's hipcamp was great! It was super easy to get there, directions were clear. There are a lot of mosquitos so definitely keep that in mind especially during fire ban season, and/or bring some kind of structure with a net. We drove to Sly Recreation area to hang out/swim (40 mins), it was super packed - make sure to get there early on a holiday.
Tent, warm sleeping bag - best.
The moment I arrived, I knew I made the right decision by booking a camping trip with Jonesy & Marie. The sight is beautiful and it has a wonderful view. Jonesy was even kind enough to provide me with a free bundle of fire wood. I ended up paying around $60 for the two nights that I spent there. From the little research I did, I found their prices very competitive compared to some locations. I'm thinking of coming back.
I was so grateful to find this beautiful location to safely celebrate a distanced camping trip for my (COVID) birthday. The site had space for all eight of us, with views over the valley: what a view to soak up while you drink your morning coffee! We were the only guests, and it felt quiet and isolated, allowing us to settle into our time in nature.
Jonesy and Marie were good communicators and made us feel welcome. We enjoyed taking a hike around the property, and they introduced us to their *adorable* goats.
Highly recommend this beautiful campsite!
Relaxing getaway in the sierras
I had a very good stay at Fjellgard Ranch. The landscape is beautiful, the owners were very welcoming, and it was fun to meet the goats, dogs and chickens. I was very happy as this was my first time solo camping.
The view is gorgeous and it was So peaceful! The owners are very helpful, nice and friendly, not to mention there super cute animals, dogs, goats and chickens.. they were a treat :)
it was my first solo camping and they were checking in to make sure I'm doing ok, as well as helped me start the camp fire and gave me some tips or future camping :)
Thank you Jonesy and Marie for making my first solo camping experience easy and memorable
Definetely going back!
Our stay was simply wonderful. This is the perfect getaway into nature with views that make your jaws drop and pictures that don’t do it justice. We drove to Jenkinson Lake and kayaked as an outing and hiking was gorgeous as well. We will come again! Worth every Penny.
We had two gorgeous "big" moon nights. We also enjoyed hiking around the trails and visiting with the dogs and goats. Our hosts were attentive and we're hoping to make a week-long visit before it gets warmer.
