We had a lovely time camping on Elkhorn Ranch. We pitched our tent at the top of the hill and the views of the sunset over the water were gorgeous. The ranch is in a nice spot that's kind of remote, but still really close to amenities and just a short drive to Monterey.

Roberta and Norris were very welcoming and generous, and made us feel at home right away on their farm. I loved learning about all the different farm animals on the morning tour around the ranch and had a lot of fun hanging out with Wendy the goat. The ranch guard dogs, Jane and Johnny, were the sweetest dogs I've ever met – Jane took every chance she had to snuggle up next to me and even got jealous when I went to pet her brother instead. It's also reassuring that the dogs patrol the ranch at night and keep wild animals away from the campsite. I'm going to miss Jane!

We had a brief stay at camp. Of note, I think this is a better site for tents than campervans. We have a small campervan and did find a spot to level out enough to sleep but much of the campervan parking area is uneven ground. The hosts were helpful and welcoming. As were their dogs...which made it tricky to spend time outside because they wanted so many pets! The outhouse and outdoor sink were very clean and well lit; as was the path to it, making for safe and easy visits after dark. We were looking for a quick easy stop overnight so the price seemed a bit high for the value we got but perhaps if you stay longer, the amenities are worth price. We didn't have time to interact with the goats, but they did bring us joy in their farewells as we exited the property.

Roberta and Norris (sp) are awesome hosts! The site is great for RV/car camping and tents. There is potable running water and sink, newly built outhouse, communal fire pit and grill available.
The herd of goats are adorable. Roberta shares her knowledge and new experience as Goat Mama. Fresh veggies, pigs, a few cows, sheep with the most adorable lambs, lots of goats (one special young billy who is quite a rascal), and Bert the llama who loves carrots!
We are two seniors adventurers who loved this experience.

Our hosts Roberta and William made all the difference. They are warm, friendly and very happy to share their farm with you. Not only are there goats, but a veggie garden, sheep, cows, chickens, pigs, AND Bert the llama he loves carrots!

The sites are up a gentle hill with views, a bit windy on our visit, but we were lucky for a FULL MOON that seemed so close we could touch it!
Running water and clean outhouse. Fire pit and grill available.

All in all we really enjoyed our time in Elkhorn slough. We look forward to returning to Goat Camp.

Lovely place! I enjoyed the nice breeze on the hillside. The toilet was probably one of the cleanest out houses i’ve ever used! The hosts are super friendly, and I was able to walk around the garden. I got to meet the goats, and I pet the dogs, who are all so sweet (they love tummy rubs). I was camping alone, and the hosts made me feel welcome and safe! Highly recommend! Great place to getaway and enjoy nature especially the oaks trees. It’s proximity is close to the Elkhorn Reserve, which I planned to explore but they are closed on tuesdays. There are some cool views at the top of the hill, so I would recommend brining your binoculars if you have ‘em.

What an amazing authentic local farm experience for our 2 year old and wife and I (from Santa Cruz). Our little girl woke up every morning racing down the hill to check in on the goats, pigs and chickens. Norris, the most amazing Jamaican farmer, was majorly accommodating (walked us around property, helped us when our batteries died unexpectedly, shared local fish caught that morning) and had so many stories to share. Roberta, gave us apples off her trees and made sure our little girl had carrots to give the goats. The working dogs are big and there to protect the animals but our little girl would pet them and lay on them like they were best friends. This is as close as I’ve ever seen to living off the land. Also you can tell they truly value community as they took many in CZU fires were going off. Can’t wait to come back, thank you Norris and Roberta!
