Private 35 acre campground surrounded by rolling hills, mountain views and open sky. Secluded nooks for solo campers and large areas for up to 300 of your closest friends. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular year round.  Stars and open skies that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else in southern California.  Just 15 minutes from Temecula wineries, 40 minutes from the alpine, artsy town of Idyllwild in the San Jacinto Mountains, and just 15 minutes from the 215 in Menifee toward Hemet.  Best camping from early autumn to lush springtime where we have great wildflower blooms.

Cooperative managers Jim and Dawn host campers who want to enjoy nature, participate in permaculture gardening all while off-setting their travel footprint. Fees are used to plant trees and enrich the land.  The property is a restorative ecovillage (turning severely damaged land into an oasis of hope) where we invite you to participate in creative local solutions to our larger global problems. * If your group is larger than six adults, pease visit our group listings page. If your group needs special privacy and sound requirements and you'd like to reserve the whole campground, you will need to contact us directly. * Sites are available on a first come, first serve basis. * Kids 12 & under are free when accompanied by an adult. Thanks!

Jim and Dawn were really nice hosts and generous with sharing their property. It’s a work in progress but we had a nice tent site and it wasn’t too crowded. They were generous with their drinking water and offered us firewood each evening, even tho it was too warm to even need a fire. They have a nice little pool to cool down in and Jim kept it clean despite the occasional dust devils.

Jim and Dawn were so warm and welcoming and their land is incredible. A landfill-turned campground, with hiking trails, a pool, massage tent, hot shower, will maintained water and toilet sites. Lovingly primitive. Plenty of space for privacy. Jaw-dropping at how much work this took!

It was a really great experience camping with the animals. Jim and his families are friendly. The hot water shower was amazing and couldn’t be happier to enjoy hot shower in dessert.

What a special place! We were greeted by Jim with a warm welcome, and loved hearing the story of how the EcoShire came to be. What a labor of love to turn this land from landfill into what it is today-- the most special and beautiful camping spot that has been lovingly restored and nurtured. We loved our camping position at the top of the hill-- the views we could see from our van of sunset were an absolute dream, and we were so close to the most amazing hike that got us to an epic vista to look out over the valley. It was super fun to meet the resident goats and chickens, and to hang out in the funky, arty common areas. It was the most easy, relaxing visit and we will definitely return to the EcoShire.

Had a wonderful stay at the Eco Shire. Jim & Dawn were wonderful hosts. Very cool set up and the kids had a great time playing in the pool and feeding the goats. We enjoyed the shade of the big tree, and learning about their set up and plans for the future orchard. Quiet at night. Highly recommend!
