Steve and Ceci were just about the most flexible and kind hosts I've had in a very long time. They rearranged the schedule of what I had booked and were super flexible. They saw I was interested in doing a campfire so made it clear I could use as much firewood as I wanted (and where to find it), and generally were just very very friendly and fun to be around (they had a "text any time you need ANYTHING" policy too!). If you are looking for a no-stress getaway with a lovely little cabin on a farm, this is your spot! Thank you, Steve and Ceci!
Wow, is the only word to describe..
What an amazing location in your little slice of birders paradise. Even though you are only minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city you step into an oasis of country living that can not be beat! The hosts are amazing and I could not recommend this place more! Be ready to step back in time into your claw foot tub and cabin to match. One of a kind. Every detail is thought out. I will be back!
Perfect hosts and hide away!
The best hosts I have ever met. Each time I stay at Birders I am greeted with a smile and an attitude so warm and welcoming. Steve and Ceci treat their guests like royalty. Attentive enough to make sure you have everything you need yet giving you the privacy to enjoy the solitude and sounds of the ranch. Birders is my "go to" hide away because of Steve and Ceci.
Steve and Ceci were great hosts. Made it as convenient and comfortable for anyone to stay. I got a lot of solitude and also had some great conversations with both of them. Place is close to the Sherman island county park, where my pet Dolby had a wonderful time.
Everything was perfect. Overall great experience.
Trees, birds, kind hosts
Steve and Ceci are such sweet people. I enjoyed getting to know them a bit and listening to bird song, watching the chickens, and walking around in the wetlands behind the property with my dog. Also loved the willow tree and other beautiful trees on the property. Everyone has mentioned it’s an oasis and it really feels that way!
I had a nice relaxing stay at the Birder's Cabin. Ceci and Steve have carved out a very peaceful little oasis. They were very communicative every step of the way, and the property is exactly as pictured. Lots of trees, lots of chickens, and some very friendly dogs. I would definitely recommend their place to anyone looking for a little quiet R&R.
A little slice of heaven
I loved staying on Steve and Ceci’s property so so much. They have such a little oasis there. The cabin was perfectly simple with tasteful touches. The land was great to walk and explore and watch the birds and other prairie animals. Steve and Ceci were very kind and accommodating. I would love to stay here again.
The Birder’s Retreat cabin was everything I was hoping for in my quest to get out of the city and find some quiet time.
Steve and Ceci have created a very special place. You’re close to nature with a wetland nearby (I saw snow geese, stilts and a kestrel) but the cabin is cozy and comfy (lovely luxurious bathtub) with all the amenities.
My hosts were available but gave me space. They’ve created a refuge here for animals as well as city dwellers looking to decompress. Willie the dog and Emma the goose were lovely co-hosts, and I really loved watching the chickens and ducks go about their day from my comfortable spot.
There is a fenced yard so you can bring your own pup which is super cool.
This is a great spot, so close to the city but truly away from it. I look forward to coming back. Highly recommended!
Chickens, birds and hawks, oh my!
Their little cottage was just what I needed! Mind u I’m a bird lover and want to live on a farm someday, so I was right at home. The bird cacophony would get silent at night for a majestic silence with only the owls lulling me to sleep. Their dog “Charlie,” I think his name was, was such a sweet soul and guarded the place with respect and pride! If you want to get away and also have a unique wildlife experience, def visit steve and Ceci’s place!
