What a great spot! Nice grassy area off a quiet safe road. So fun to watch planes at this private airport. Short bike ride to ocean and paved bike path to Fort Bragg! Would definitely stay again! David was a great host!
Easy in and out. Quiet but remote from everything. 15 min walk to beach but since I am a sea glass hunter it was disappointing. No glass at all. Just dead jelly fish and kelp. We were not towing so we had no way to get to the State park, restaurants, or anything else. No Uber. Good place to walk furry family members… lots of green space. If you just want a place to land for a night, it is just fine.
Easy at the hanger 54
My stay at hangar hangar .54 was simple and easy, easy to get there, easy to be there, easy to leave. Just a field surrounded by Hangars and a great place to have peace and quiet. Much more quiet than the park across the street. Over there people were waking me up at 8 AM packing up. But at the hanger it’s peaceful
Great place for an extended weekend in fort Bragg. There are two sites on this property adjacent to a very small airport (maybe 2 or 3 planes each day on the weekend). The sites are adjacent to each other but we happened to have the place to ourselves during our stay. No hookups but we did use the non potable house too rinse the dogs after our beach adventures. The beach and the haul road trail is a 2 minute drive ( or you could walk). Unfortunately dogs not allowed on the actual beach here unless you walk a bit. But just a 15 minute drive to the off leash beach. The host was responsive to questions, welcomed us when we arrived and then left us alone other than to wave if we were out as he came and went.
Easy, convenient & quiet site!
Hangar 54 was great. Easy to get to and set up, with a large, level space. The host, David, was very responsive and met us upon arrival to direct us to our spot and answer questions. He gave great recommendations for fresh, local seafood and kid/dog friendly activities. The location of the campsite was very central to downtown Fort Bragg and great beaches. The neighborhood, a mix of commercial and residential, was clean and quiet. On our last night there the skies cleared and the stargazing was pretty darn good!
For our family the stay was limited to three days because we haven’t figured out how to dry camp longer in our rig, but we could have easily stayed longer and not ran out of things to do. Great hipcamp and host. We’ll definitely be back.
