We arrived later in the evening during sundown and the directions to wagon wheel camp were right on point. Came across a couple bunnies and a snake while pulling into camp, it just makes camping out in nature all the more real while getting a little escape from the city. We got to our site and noticed everything to be very well kept, Jim definitely has an eye for the details and it shows. The camp offers a outhouse, grill, campfire along with seating and plenty shade for the day hours. The night sky was full of stars and we had a peaceful evening hanging around camp until we jumped into bed.
I would definitely come back to the songdog ranch and bring some friends along with me as it offers plenty space to settle down and enjoy your own private retreat.

This was an all around great camping experience. Willard was a great host and was available via phone when we got to the site. There is plenty of wide open spaces and spots to set up, so that was a real treat. When we arrived we were greeted by Scott and dogs in tow. They showed us where we could set up and where the portapotty was available.

It was windy being mid April, but the sunset and night sky were well worth it. Just bring enough tie downs if you plan to go this time of year because the valley does get a direct constant breeze because of the mountains it’s up against. The stars real shines brightly and the city lights from neighboring Hysperia weren’t that intrusive.

The sunset was so incredible I wasn’t expecting it being so close to LA. It’s about an hour out of San Bernardino.

We had fun walking around the valley and seeing the small ground flowers in bloom. There is a giant metal fence property with Bulls across the way that was fun and gorgeous to look at.

Would definitely recommend this spot to first time campers as it was easy to get to and flat spots all around. It did help having a Jeep and rooftop tent, but not needed. I plan to come back. (One note, the GPS may take you to an entryway that doesn’t exist. Just keep driving 1/4 mile down and you’ll see the stop sign turn into the property. It has a giant entryway and metal gate)

Jim's wagon camp site provides all the amenities you could ask for in a campground. The site is huge and is located in an area where you will not be bothered. Highly recommended for group camping.
