If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This is a decent place to stay but depending on what you’re looking for there are a few things to be aware of:
There is a cute little creek that makes the whole scene. The “driveway” is steep. A heavy vehicle can make it up it yet it will get your attention. Our vehicle needs a 12 ft clearance and weighs 9000 lbs and had no problems. Some drivers may not be comfortable with that.
Sites can be close depending on occupancy. You can hear the road noise. Not a dealbreaker but something to be aware of.
The full view isn’t panoramic as there are some areas that need clean up.
The bathroom is a full five minute walk up to the near park up the street. If they built an outdoor bathroom and cleaned up the few areas they’d really have something.
This is a great spot to camp with some tree cover, the outdoor kitchen, and the outdoor shower! You don't find that in many hipcamps. You can watch the hummingbirds dart about, too. Harbison Canyon is a beautiful area, and Sierra is a lovely host. I recommend this!
Super responsive friendly host. For a hipcamp, site was extremely well equipped including power strip to power coffee maker and single top burner. I love being able make breakfast without fire.
Nice quiet space in someones backyard, running water in the sink and outdoor shower provided. Good communication from host with helpful directions to find the place. Plenty of space.
Not private at all; it’s camping in someone else’s backyard/junkyard, so we did not spend the night there. Shared kitchen, common area (with old couch) shower and in a small area or the property near a locked trailer. The restroom is not on site - it’s the restroom of a public park nearby, some 5-10 min walk. There are 3 “sites” that are side by side alongside the main house. The noise from the road cannot be ignored, as well as the neighbor’s weed whacker. Just go to Anza Borego and deal with the heat and bees.
Sierra (and family) were incredible hospitable and welcoming. They made us feel extra special being that we were on our honeymoon. The outdoor shower is highly recommended, as well as taking a nice long walk around the neighborhood and property. This is truly a hidden gem of all gems. An oasis is exactly correct!
