We had an adventurous ride on the ranch road in, but we were in a Toyota Sienna mini-van loaded with two weeks worth of road trip gear for our little family of 4. So if we can make it, pretty much anyone can I imagine. Once we got settled, we were absolutely in love with pretty much everything about Sasquatch Meadows. It was pristine, quiet, and positively gorgeous. We had lovely neighbors, but also had a night with the place all to ourselves. Even with other campers, there is so much room to spread out and places to explore, so if you're looking for solitude, this definitely fits the bill. We spent our time in the creek and up at the falls. The meadow is hot during the day and heated up our solar shower so we could rinse off after our adventures. We saw turtles, frogs, deer and of course butterflies galore. It's a nice long run up to the gate and back, but worth it if you're the running type. Running the road really gave perspective to how beautiful the property is. The falls and creek are glorious. Come and plan to hunker down. 3 nights was perfect for our stay, but we coud have easily stayed a few more.
The campsite was great, but it's a 30 minute drive from the gate on unmantained roads so you definitely need 4WD and feel comfortable driving off road. The campsite was clean and private, the meadow was great and the swimming was amazing!! The only issue we had was the directions, we were given the wrong written directions to a campsite that doesn't exist which was frustrating. Everything else was lovely!
So the camp site is incredibly beautiful. The directions on email you get after booking are very good and helped a lot when we were trying to get to the site. I will say that it was pretty treacherous getting to the site. As I was driving in I was surprised that they said 2wd capable but when we were there a Subaru pulled up so I guess it’s possible to get in with a small car.... I was in 4wd the entire time. The swimming hole is beautiful, there was even a small turtle that was swimming around when we were there. Be prepared when both entering and exiting the site it will probably take longer than you expected. It would also be nice if they had signs for the exits because you can end up going the wrong way like us and spending 20 minutes driving in a circle a little confused. Simply put.... we had a great time and I would recommend this site for anyone looking for a nice campsite with friendly owners that wants to get away from real life for a few nights.
Sasquatch Meadows is a lovely hideaway - the swimming hole is amazing! The toilet was surprisingly so clean and well taken care of. But the bugs are no joke. This is a great campsite to get away from the crowds but take the bug situation seriously.
I think I got about 10 extra wrinkles from this trip. The swimming hole was gorgeous and such a special treat. But at the campsite, the bugs were extremely intense despite our bug spray, wipes, and special repellent clothes. We want to go back with the hopes that if we are more prepared we might be able to enjoy the scenery without being constantly swarmed. If we do make it back, we will definitely try out upperfalls instead.
This is one of those places you reluctantly write a review of because it's so clean and perfect and quiet you want to keep it to yourself. What a wonderful spot. The swimming hole at the campsite was incredibly beautiful, and the whole area was teeming with life. (Including mosquitos, so be prepared!) Definitely accessible by two-wheel drive smaller passenger vehicles during good conditions, take it slow and you'll be fine.
