Camp along the banks of Bates Creek under the canopy of the redwoods in a 1969 Vintage Roadrunner Trailer.  Must be 13 or older to camp at our property. Your site is just 1 mile to Land of Medicine Buddha Retreat Center which adjoins the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park by foot trails.  Escape the valley heat and enjoy the cool breezes down by the creek.

Enjoy a leisurely break from your outdoor activities at Soquel Vineyards tasting room and patio just 2 1/2 miles up the road. If you're in the mood for a scrumptious dinner prepared by Chef Brad, head on over to 'Home' on Main Street just 1 and a half miles down the road or cross the street for a glass of wine at Vino Cruz.  Cross over Soquel Drive and continue down Main Street where you'll be greeted by Michael's on Main Restaurant and Tap Room, BeerThirty outdoor beer garden and Carpo's Restaurant which is host to the best salad bar, tri-tip sandwich and award winning pies.

Coastal adventures await you just 2 and 1/2 miles to the beaches in Capitola Village...another mile from there to the 'Hook' surf spot...a short walk from there along the cliffs to famed surf spot and home of Jack O'Neil (RIP) Pleasure Point and the 'Barrel Burrito' at the Point Market, a local favorite.

For that fine dining experience, book a ride in a vintage car to the famed Shadowbrook Restaurant overlooking Capitola Village and beach.

When you're done exploring all that our coastal communities have to offer, come back to your sweet spot along the banks of Bates Creek and take in the wonderful sounds of nature.  Bring your own bedroll, pillow, towels and cooking equipment as well as flashlights and lanterns as this is 'glamping' so no electricity inside or outside your vintage trailer.  You will enjoy the comfort of our vintage trailer that has a couch that turns into a bed for two and a dinette that turns into a bed for one.  The turquoise appliances are for show but not for cooking or doing dishes so please bring your own cookstove and bins for washing dishes to set up outside of the trailer.  There is a designated spot for dumping the gray water.  There is an icebox in the trailer that you can put a block of ice in to keep items chilled.  Most importantly...DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR OWN PORTA POTTY AND PACK OUT CONTENTS OR PUT IN SEALED BAG TO PUT IN TRASHCAN WHEN DONE Located across the street.

Your camp spot shares space with another site which has a 30 foot RV but there is ample space between the two sites for privacy.  There is a shared trail to the creek between the two sites, where you can take in all that the redwoods have to offer and relax and unwind.

This camp is in a rural/residential neighborhood, so you will see homes along the street.  This is a one lane road with a 15 mph speed posted and no exit as it ends at the Land of Medicine Buddha...you will hear the cars as they drive by and we have seen an increase in traffic with Big Basin State park closure as well as due to the Tiktok videos that went viral highlighting LMB and the "Waterfall Spot".

Very nice spot in the woods by the creek! No AT&T coverage but Christie was kind enough to give me the wifi password and I was able to take conference calls from the site. Very close to town and the beach too.

We had a nice stay at Babbling Bates Creek. It had charming aspects. The creek was close with a pleasant (but steep) path down. It was a nice landscape and view and the neighborhood was peaceful. The location wa a great being close to town yet back in the forest. Christie was very kind and generous. The trailer was simple and as advertised is just a place to sleep in without electricity or luxuries. Cell service was poor, at best. The space wasn’t very private with houses across the street in view of the camp area because they are on a hill so if you’re looking for seclusion, this may not be the place for you.
We enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Look out for lots of banana slugs down by the brook :)

Christie’s spot in the redwoods is both picturesque and easy to reach from town. She’s set up this site with care. The interior of the RV is even cuter, in my opinion, than it appears in the photos and the outdoor patio has an attractive and very sturdy table and chairs set for cooking/dining as well as a set of chairs lined with faux fur for a more comfortable sit and intake of the view. The RV has plenty of storage space including a closet with numerous hangers. I found the bed to be totally comfortable and used no extra padding other than my sleeping bags. The whole site remains mostly shaded throughout the day with just a few sunbeams shining through when it’s sunny. The walk down to the creek is quite short. Rather than the creek itself, I found the view through the trees and across to the other side of the creek to be the main attraction. The site’s proximity to hiking at Land of Medicine Buddha is a plus for those drawn to the woods. Christie made sure I was comfortable and remained reachable throughout my stay. Cell reception (for AT&T) is just a couple of minutes drive back in the direction of Soquel.

My girlfriend and I had a great time staying at Christie’s location. The neighborhood is quiet, surrounded by nature/redwoods, and close to everything in Santa Cruz.

Christie went above and beyond to help me out and was a great host. Her place is a really sweet private , quiet spot overlooking a gully with a creek, super close to Santa Cruz. I'll be back again to stay with her!
