This tent site is conveniently located on the other side of group campfire bowl. It is one of three individual dirt tent camping sites along the creek The site is located by itself and it has it's own creek front area just for you to enjoy. This site is located next to the communal campfire bowl area. Sometimes our campers like to hang out up until quiet time so if "early to bed" another site may be better. We have put up a natural privacy screen to keep your site very private. This site is quite large and can accommodate 2 large tents. It does NOT have a platform. It does have its own BBQ. Each camp spot has its own picnic table and propane fire pit. Propane canisters are available on site for rent, This is the only individual site that will allow a very larger tent.
Reservation considerations. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July land Labor Day. Beginning in the 2020 season we do not do checkins on Sunday. However, if you are on site and want to extend over Sunday night all you have to do is let us know in advance or during your stay. If one weekend is booked looked to another weekend or you might consider a mid-week - Monday - Thursday visit.
This is a family private owned small campground (16 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. Our hallmark is our family teepee! We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping.
We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe.We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.Tahoe is less than an hour away.We are dog friendly and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers.Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from 10 pm to 7 AM.
We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.
For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also added a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a cool room to store all food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness but avoid Camp.
The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up memorial day weekend and down after labor day) for those that want to use floating devices (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits at our sites for ambience – not cooking. It requires the purpose of propane on siate.
We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, individual propane fire pits, BBQs, etc. - anything to make it easier for our campers.Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.
Checkin is between 4 and 8. If you are coming from the Bay allow 4 hours - you must leave by 3:00 or 4:00 at the latest to arrive during checkin. If you get delayed, for the consideration of the other campers you may consider waiting and arriving Saturday morning. Going forward there will be no checkins after 9:00.

Our family had such a blast during our camping weekend at Camp Nauvoo. Honestly, we could not have hoped for a better time. The site we chose, number 12 was shady so we didn't get too hot during the day and was right on the creek so we hung up a hammock and just enjoyed watching the kids splash around looking for crawdads for two days straight. Greg was beyond accommodating and anytime we had questions he was easy to find. Periodically the kids wanted to go find him just to say hi or give him blackberries they would pick. I would 100% recommend staying at Camp Nauvoo. The location is great if you want to explore the area of Apple Hill but we enjoyed just taking it easy there our whole weekend. We found plenty to keep ourselves busy.
This little hidden gem is just amazing. Clean campgrounds, great amenities and friendly hosts. Site 12 was just what we needed, it was hidden under big beautiful trees with the river view that kept all of us cool in the scorching hot sun. We were pleasantly surprised to have a propane grill at our site and the bathrooms were just a five minute walk. Site 12 was the perfect for us, plenty of room for 2 large tents and it had enough rugged outdoor activities.

Great place to spend the weekend with family and friends. Greg and the team were amazing hosts and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Site #12 has great privacy, perfect shade and direct access to the creek. Our kids had a blast exploring the area (lots of crayfish to search out) and playing with friends. Everyone slept great as the creek was the perfect white noise! We're definitely going to come back.
We spent a weekend at Camp Nuavoo - Site #12. It’s a beautiful secluded spot just beside the creek, which made for a really peaceful stay beneath the forest cover. There are a few hiking trails around and worth finding out.
We also managed to lose something at the camp ground which Greg generously helped us find and coordinate a pickup.
Both Greg and Laurie are great hosts and we can’t recommend it enough.
First time at Camp Nauvoo and loved it! The camp is nestled around beautiful Weber Creek which directly borders most of the 16 sites, aside from those on the upper level with awesome views. We stayed mid-week in late September (#12) and were thrilled to discover we had the whole camp to ourselves for 4 nights! We felt very safe and had more than everything we could possibly need. The camp hosts were welcoming and very dog-friendly. We were given plenty of privacy, but they checked in with us each day in case we needed anything.
As a couple traveling with our dog we could not have asked for a more perfect experience. We were like kids again with a whole summer camp to ourselves! We hiked, fished, and thoroughly explored the camp. There are currently about 2 miles of trail, but you can see the outline for the planned 8 mile trail project that looks exciting! The best part was splashing around in the creek and swimming holes. I’d love to come back in spring when it’s fuller to see how it transforms the landscape!
Although we were overjoyed to have this unique solo experience, it’s clear that Camp Nauvoo is ideal for families or groups. There are a wide variety of accommodations from traditional tent camping, 2 large teepees with cots, several tent cabins and 2 amazing “glamping” cabins. You can mix and match sites to suit your needs. There are spacious group sites and some different sites are connected for convenience. Others (like ours) are tucked away and private.
I was already thinking that Camp Nauvoo would be perfect for a family reunion when I discovered that you can rent the entire camp for group events, with discounts for smaller groups. There’s a small lodge and an outdoor picnic area with plenty of tables. There is a small playground, basketball court, volleyball field, tetherball and more. It would be a really affordable way to get everyone together. They even do weddings and have a bridal villa and beautiful lighted gazebo on a large green lawn surrounded by pine trees.
We were given plenty of info up front, so we knew exactly what to expect ahead of time. There are no wood fires at the sites, but there is a large fire pit in the amphitheater area when it’s safe to burn. Gas fire rings (no cooking) and bbq’s are provided at the sites and were very convenient. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked and it was nice having hot showers at the end of the day.
I would definitely recommend Camp Nauvoo to anyone! It was just perfect.

We stayed here to see if it was suitable for us to bring the kids the next time. We will absolutely be coming back with the little ones and are trying to squeeze in one more trip before the season ends. Awesome site even if it's a little close to the community fire pit which had some loud and rude individuals towards the end of the night. Overall great experience and Greg is an AMAZING camp host!
GREAT SPOT!
Greg and Laurie’s place was our first ever Hip Camp stay and let me say I’m not sure I want to stay anywhere else.
They have bathrooms, showers, a little ravine slash lake, mature trees, lots of shade tons of camping options from being your own tent to teepees and those cute little buildings with green tarps and cots inside.
There is such nice touches like really rugged wagons to help you unload and get to your site, swing set for the kids, basketball hoops and benches scattered though out for some blissful relaxing opportunities. We stay at site 12 and I don’t see my self staying at any other site. Big, spacious, tons of shade (no ez up needed) and close walk to the bathrooms, showers and rec room. Mom and dad and a 3 and 4 year old were happy campers.
Fun , safe camping ground.
Need a solar pathway to bathroom at night !
Host are friendly and helpful ..
