Reservation considerations. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July land Labor Day. Beginning in the 2020 season we do not do checkins on Sunday. However, if you are on site and want to extend over Sunday night all you have to do is let us know in advance or during your stay. Due to COVID many of our weddings were postponed into 2021 so many weekends during May, June, September and October are not available for camping. So if one weekend is booked looked to another weekend or you might consider a mid-week - Monday - Thursday visit.
This is a family private owned small campground (16 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. Our hallmark is our family teepee! We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping.
We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe.We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.Tahoe is less than an hour away.We are dog friendly and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers.Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from 10 pm to 7 AM.
We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.
For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings) .The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also adding a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a cool room to store all food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness but they don't come into camp.
The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up memorial day weekend and down after labor day) for those that want to use the floating devices we provide (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits at our sites sites for ambience – not cooking. Propane available on site for purchase.
We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, individual propane fire pits, BBQs, etc. - anything to make it easier for our campers. Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.
Checkin is between 4 and 8. If you are coming from the Bay allow 4 hours - you must leave by 3:00 or 4:00 at the latest to arrive during checkin. If you get delayed, for the consideration of the other campers you may consider waiting and arriving Saturday morning. Going forward there will be no checkins after 9:00.

Awesome camping area
It was a great place especially for my first time camping family. Mr. Greg and Mason was awesome at making sure everything is okay. I would definently bring my family back! Lots of new family memories..
Best camping experience ever!
It was an awesome camping experience for our family! This place is especially great for families with little kids— safe and lots of fun stuff to do. The host, Greg, was fantastic. He was always around to check up on everyone and the property. He was very kind and helpful! This place had everything we needed and more! We’ll definitely come back!
A relaxing close quarters weekend
Greg and Mason were awesome!! Super helpful, kind, and patient. I accidentally spent half the weekend calling Greg the wrong name and we all had a good laugh about it.
Tent 4 was great! With two young kids, it was perfectly situated near the bathroom so we had zero accidents. The shared BBQs helped us get to know our neighbors better, as one was outside our camp, near enough to chat.
It is close quarters camping, and this site is situated on the path, so occasionally it felt a little like a thoroughfare, but most of the sites are relatively close to the path. Group sites seemed to be more secluded, and we might use one of those next time. But we had no trouble with this and used it as an opportunity to share things with others, such as bug spray, temporary tattoos, and glow sticks.
The ladies bathroom had 3 stalls and 3 showers. They were clean and well stocked, although there isn't a fan, so the morning smells can get quite potent, and the humidity can be a little intense. Can't speak for the men's, as I forgot to ask my brother how they were. I'm sure more of the same.
The little store has hours posted, and you can get things like ice, propane for the fires, and ice cream. The WiFi is only on while the store is open, and Greg was awesome enough to open an hour early so I could meet a deadline.
I highly recommend this place, with kids, with dogs, with friends, or by yourself.
Beautiful cozy stay
Welcoming staff and beautiful grounds. Everything and more you could wish for, although there were lots of people walking thru our site to get to theirs (unavoidable with the layout, and having so many creek side spots). All in all extremely enjoyable and kid friendly, looking forward to our next trip!
Camp Nauvoo was a really fun place, even during Covid. I'm sure it's even more fun with the lodge open. We had a great time at site #4. The platform tent was large and well-maintained, there was a nice picnic table and a great spot for the propane campfire. The only negative was that there were constantly people walking through the campsite to get to the other five campsites further down the path. The path goes right through the campsite. If there's any way they can change that it would be great! Overall, thumbs up!
Good family camp
It was our first time taking the kids camping. I have an 8 year old and an 18 month old. Since the 18 month old has essentially grown up in the pandemic, he went absolutely feral with so much space and Camp Nauvoo was a great place for him to do that. It was great having a premade tent and a picnic table already set up- I can’t imagine having to mess with that and a child who turned into a class 4 runner. The tent was nice and the cots were helpful. Having the bathrooms nearby as well as a charging stations for electronics and even a microwave are great for families. The bathrooms are clean, and the showers are warm. The stalls are tiny though. It worked best for me to shower my filthy baby from outside the stall-pro tip.
There’s a big open grassy field that was wonderful for the little guy to play in and even the 8 year old enjoyed running amuck.
The real star of the show is the creek. The water is cool, clean, and clear. My older one loved poking the crawfish. The little guy liked the shallower parts. With the creek and the little ones, we didn’t need any additional activities though we did trek up to Tahoe one day.
Greg is a good host- friendly and nice, and expectations are clear. Greg was happy to stop and talk but never obtrusively. I know it’s a business but I think he truly gets joy from people enjoying camping and having fun.
All in all, great family place, lots of fun.
Ps. The hike isn’t for beginners and while I didn’t die, I did have visions of being airlifted out. I am middle aged, chubby (to put it mildly), and wildly out of shape. So your mileage may vary.
