Family Glamping Safari Tent #1 - Arapaho   (NO PETS IN #1)

This Glamping Tent features all the comforts of home along a private stretch of the creek. The tents are 10 x 16 and each features a queen size comfortable bed, kitchen table and wood burning stove. This tent also has a bunk bed for the kids.. We provide towels and amenities. This is located closest to the lodge. Outside there is a propane firepit.  To use the firepit it requires the onsite purchase of propane.  The tent also has electricity to charge your electronic devices.  WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS IN THE GLAMPING TENTS!  Only those with reservations in the glamping tents are allowed in this area.

Reservation considerations.  We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July land Labor Day.  Beginning in the 2020 season we do not do checkins on Sunday.  However, if you are on site and want to extend over Sunday night all you have to do is let us know in advance or during your stay.  Due to COVID many of our weddings were postponed into 2021 so many weekends during May, June, September and October are not available for camping.  So if one weekend is booked looked to another weekend or you might consider a mid-week - Monday - Thursday visit.

This is a family private owned small campground (16 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents , teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping (we will allow a small travel trailer in #14).

We have a “family camp” vibe.  We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together.  We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day.  Tahoe is less than an hour away.  We are dog friendly at many of our sites and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers. Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from10 pm to 7 AM.

We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.

For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixins). The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also adding a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a room to store your open food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness.

The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up around memorial day weekend and down after labor day) for those that want to use the floating devices we provide (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits for ambience – not cooking. They require the purchase of our on site propane rental.

We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, sleeping pads - anything to make it easier for our campers. Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.

Checkin is between 4 and 8.  If you are coming from the Bay allow 4 hours - you must leave by 3:00 or 4:00 at the latest to arrive during checkin.  If you get delayed, for the consideration of the other campers you may consider waiting and arriving Saturday morning.   Going forward there will be no checkins after 9:00.

You must book here! Greg and the caretakers were so kind and helpful! The tent was clean and the beds were comfy. The creek and the watering hole were perfect for keeping cool and tons of activities for the kiddos.

Greg and Laurie were so accommodating to let me use the gazebo to set up my best friends proposal during our stay. Which it turned out perfect!

Our group had so much fun and we will be back next year!

We had a great time “glamping” in Greg and Laurie’s land!! The place was clean, beautiful and filled with amenities. Greg was super welcoming, and both the hosts, Sean and Toby were super nice and helpful (they have a beautiful German shepherd too). My boys enjoyed: playing in the creek and catching crawfish (catch and release), catching salamanders and naming them, playing volleyball and ping pong, having s’mores, hiking around and swimming in the swimming hole! Wish we could’ve stayed longer. We stayed in one of the glamping tents, and we absolutely adored it. Bed was comfortable and the bunk beds worked well for my boys. Greg even bought my 10 year old a birthday cupcake. The lodge had microwave, Keurig coffee maker, a water kettle. They had board games and tables in the there (along with the ping pong table) Could not have asked for a more perfect place for my 10 year old to spend his birthday in! Thanks for everything! And we can’t wait to come back.

Glamping tent #1 was a clean and comfortable spot for my one-on-one getaway with my 7-year-old son. He loved the creek just steps away, the thoughtful amenities, the rustic tent cabin, and how friendly Greg and the caretaker were. He also loved roving around and meeting other kids. The spot is a short easy drive to downtown Placerville and other fun and historic spots. Highly recommended for families.

Beautiful property with many rules

Camp Nauvoo is gorgeous and the Safari Tent is nice! As a rule-follower and respectful person in general, I felt a bit overwhelmed not only by the rules and regulations posted pretty much everywhere, but also by having them verbally reinforced several times by the owner. I understand wanting folks to treat your property with respect, but the excessive policing diminishes the otherwise relaxing vibe. I would recommend this place effusively WITH the aforementioned caveat.

Absolutely loved our stay at one of the glamping site. Greg is so friendly and helpful. Thanks for hosting us Greg. We stayed here for Father's day weekend with our 3 yr and 8 yr old and all of us had so much fun and made beautiful memories. Site was so neat and clean, with every possible amenities you would need for glamping fun. Outdoor setup was relaxing with beautiful ambience, fire pit and creek right outside the site. Beds were very comfortable. Showers/Restroom and all common area amenities was very well maintained. It was a prefect weekend getaway to disconnect and recharge yourself. We will certainly come back again and would highly recommend for family getaway.

Memorial weekend glamping

June 1st, 2022

We had a very relaxing Memorial weekend at Camp Nauvoo. It felt like we were away for a week. The sound of the running water from the creek at night is very soothing and relaxing. I love the sound of the chirping birds in the morning. We stayed at the glamping tent 1. It is very inviting, the set up, chairs, the bed, the fire ring, the hammock… everything is on point. I just wish we have our own grill on the site and a food box so we do not have to be back and forth everyday to put food away at night and bring it back to site every morning. But, I understand the reason behind… in order to keep the surroundings as it is, we have to follow a few rules which is reasonable.

My son loved the s’mores time. He could get to see other kids and it felt very homey and warm because you get to talk to other people. Which is kind of nice.

Greg was very accommodating with all my questions and concerns. Sad to say, we did not get to meet him. Aaron was very helpful.

We truly love our stay here! We can not wait to come back! Hopefully we can get a spot in the summer. This place is truly a hidden gem.
Thank you for having this kind of camping site. We love everything about it!

We love camping at Camp Navoo. Beautiful setting, restrooms and hot showers. Fantastic hosts who are super helpful. We usually camp in one of the regular tent sites but this time tried out the glamping in #1 and #2. Woo hoo -living the life! Super close to the restrooms without being too close. Electricity for my CPAP, our own private area of the camp (minimal sites across the creek), comfy bed and bunks for the kids (BTW, not really built for bigger adults but would be fine for teens.)
I would highly recommend camping here. And if you don't want to pitch a tent and bring all of your gear then this is the way to go.
