You will have two acres of waterfront all to yourself. There are neighboring properties but folks generally keep to themselves. We are slowly rehabbing the property into an off-grid haven. Come spend time on the river and enjoy our swimming holes, open meadow, oak grove, and cozy fire pit. Make sure you bring lamps and lanterns for camping the old-fashioned way, utilizing our clean water spigots and pit toilet that keep us off-grid!
The property is surrounded by hiking trails, biking trails, swimming spots, fishing holes, and more! Within 30 minutes we have the magnificent redwoods forests, dramatic northern California beaches, wonderful restaurants and breweries, and all the in town amenities you could need. If you have specific interests, feel free to reach out for recommendations.
The north coast is both an adventure-center and a place to relax and disconnect from the distractions of our busy lives. The property is a few miles up the south fork of the Smith River which is a doorway to the Smith River National Recreation Area. You won't have cell phone service at the site, but can get that and anything else you might need just a few miles away in Hiouchi.
Dogs are welcome to enjoy our space too! We encourage you to bring your pets. Leashes are not required but bear in mind our land is not completely fenced. Please have your pet under voice control for their safety and as courtesy to nearby landowners.

We LOVED this spot. Was spacious, private and what Tyler built down by the river was magical. Really special. The water was like a liquid coca cola bottle - beautiful green and clear. The weather was great stars and stars and more stars. We would love to go back some day. Note to other campers - the cell signal is 20 minutes away. Just make plans for that, if you have a business call to make as we did. All in all - fabulous! Thanks, Tyler!
Beautiful setting right on Smith River. Nice arrangement for my 18 foot teardrop trailer. No problems following directions. Everything was clean when I arrived. It’s a very inviting spot immediately adjacent to the trailer. If you’re daring, find and follow the rope down to a beautiful spot on the river. The only minor issue was neighbors running a generator for some remodeling work. But that’s living in the country. So all in all it was a fabulous time.
Campsite was beautiful, clean, and just what we were looking for. Be sure to write the gate code down before you arrive...service drops out before the Myrtle Beach turnoff. I'd definitely stay here again.
We had a wonderful time. The drive was beautiful easy to access. The river was a great way to wake up. I would stay at least 2 nights so you can explore the surroundings and enjoy the sun on the river.
Wonderful peaceful spot. Awesome views and great base camp for redwood adventures. Thanks for sharing your space.
There was no gate code on the itinerary.
We had to back track to cell service before granting access. This was a surprise & time consuming.
I appreciate the added security but there was no notification with the updated code.
Camp Jade River was very peaceful. We definitely got the R&R we were looking for this trip. We placed our tent on the deck and you can hear the wonderful sounds of the Smith River and crickets. Peaking outside the tent, you can see countless stars. During the day, we spent time relaxing on our hammock and taking a dip in the river which we could easily get to--thanks to the ropes which were installed. Just an amazing place!
This place was just lovely. Lots of space, just cultivated enough to feel comfortable but still with a rustic feel. Our kids camped in the oaks, we were in the meadow, and we had dinner and snacks on the awesome deck. The only negative experience was the neighbor who informed me (not very politely) that we are on private property as I walked with my baby in a carrier down the driveway, returning from a walk to check out the creek down the road and stopped to look at the fig and kiwi vines as we passed by. I'm sure they get sick of visitors coming down the driveway, but it was kind of a bummer interaction. Not really a huge deal though. We'll be sure to stay well away from the property lines when we return, which my whole family looks forward to!
Great site, gorgeous river! We were only there overnight, didn't have time to swim or explore the nearby hiking trails, but thoroughly enjoyed the property's deck, amenities and big field.
