The cabin was quite comfortable, the restrooms very clean and modern, the location so close to Arroyo Grande's main street that you can walk. Recreation facilities were well maintained, picnic table and fire ring, trash and recycling container made for convenient camping experience. I was disappointed that the grounds had few trees for such an old property. A loud birthday party went past 10pm on Saturday but our camp hosts responded quickly to our complaints and we had quiet by 10:30.
Simple, clean & efficient
Ira Hughes is a simple little cabin with beautiful, clean bathrooms and showers very nearby. It suited our needs just fine, and it was wonderful to be able to walk down into nearby Arroyo Grande Village for a great selection of restaurants, historic buildings and bridges and views.
Love this camp!!
This was my second time staying at the camp, and both of the cabins that I’ve stayed in (3 & 4) are super cute and fun! There’s plenty of space and I love that the bathroom/shower facilities (which are immaculate) are right next door. We made really great use of our fire pit, bbq, and picnic table, and when it started to warm up outside, we headed over to the beautiful pool! Firewood is available for sale on site, which is another great perk. The entire staff are so friendly and helpful, and I truly can’t wait to plan my next trip back!
Disappointing to say the least.
My friend and I arrived with our dogs. After setting up camp we were informed our dogs had to be in leashes. We have 4 German Sheppards and the description said on/off leash. We had driven from hours away and a holiday weekend (Labor Day) booked in advance by months we had no where to go. We explained the description was the reason we rented as we come to let our dogs roam freely to be dogs. We we were told descriptions incorrect and that She-Amanda- changed it to reflect on leash dogs. I screen shot this to show her before she changed it. This was totally frustrating as w e had hours to drive back home and out trip was ruined and there was no offer to refund our money. We spent hundreds in gas and camping supplies as well. We were told we can take them to the dog beach. The following evening my friend left me and went home as he just couldn’t keep his dog in the cabin or on leash and really nether could I but I stayed one more night due to the drive the expenses paid to come. I left a day early. I want to say as well it wasn’t camping. We could hear traffic from the freeway. Be aware it is literally off the freeway. Our parking area for our cars and our cabin was the driveway for workers to get supplies. So literally all day and all night people from other camp sites drove in and out the literally a couple feet from our cabin. Constant traffic and absolutely no privacy. None. It want quiet a second so enjoying and peace and quiet wasn’t even possible. Our dogs did run on the hillside a bit a few times because they couldn’t be cooped in the cabin. Sad we had to leave early and this cabin had so much traffic and noise. Either way if you want camping this simply isn’t the spot
A wonderful & awesome place to stay
We had the best time & stay ever! This campground is so close to the beautiful Arroyo Grande village & has a beautiful view. The bathrooms were close and immaculate! The host was awesome, too! We bought logs for a log burning fire & it was so relaxing to sit outside & enjoy time with loved ones! We cannot wait to return & already planning a return trip!! This is definitely a hidden gem!
