Blue Sky Center is an innovative rural community design and development non-profit organization located just outside the small high-desert townsite of New Cuyama, CA.

Please take a moment to read through the description of our Shelter Circle so that you can choose which Hut best fits your needs. We'd love to have you but need to know you're coming!

Our five canvas-topped, Shelton-designed huts offer our most inclusive camping experience. Furnished with beds, furniture, linens, lighting, and electrical outlets, you're sure to be comfortable in your one of a kind hut. Circled around the main fire ring and adjacent to Khalili Cantina, you'll have opportunity for community with fellow campers, to relax in the Cantina, or in our numerous hammocks around the property.

Shelter 1, the Pope, offers a double bed. (sleeps 2)

Shelter 2, the Quonset, offers two single beds. (sleeps 2)

Shelter 3, the Gypsy, offers a double bed. (sleeps 2)

Shelter 4, the Gable, offers a double bed. (sleeps 2)

Shelter 5, the Snail, offers a double bed. (sleeps 2)

Shelter 6, the Sheepherder Wagon, offers a double bed (sleeps 2)

There is floor space in each shelter to set up your cot or a couple sleeping bags for kids. You make the call as to how many people each hut will accommodate but the max that is possible is two adults/four with kids at the very most.

We have firewood for purchase here - $5/bundle (deposit into the wood box or send via PayPal to @blueskycenter). There are multiple fire rings, so feel free to share with other guests or build your own. We have picnic benches for eating and overhead lights. A large BBQ grill is available for cooking.

We require a $25 cleaning fee for all campers bringing a pet along with them on their trip. Thank you for understanding and we look forward to seeing you and your furry friends!

All photography for commercial use must be pre-approved. Please contact us for more info.

This place was awesome. The views are absolutely incredible especially the night sky. It is the perfect blend of outdoor camping experience with the creature comforts of home. I would definitely recommend Blue Sky center to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Wonderful, quaint, and remote campsite. A perfect weekend break from the city and chaos to reconnect with nature. The Shelton huts were simple and great for camping, and the Blue Sky Center had clean communal facilities with such modern design. I loved the Pope hut! It was perfect for 1, but can fit 2. Since I went in the winter (beginning of December), nights were cold and the huts had heated mattresses, extra blankets and a space heater. However, I still recommend bringing a sleeping bag meant for cold weather. All my neighbors at the campsite were really cool and respectful of each other and the property. I highly recommend this camp site and the Pope hut!

These little wagons are dope. It gets chilly at night even with a heated blanket and space heater. The kitchen is great and the facilities are really clean. Great to have a fire at night as well!

Such a unique and wonderful place to stay! Everything was very clean and we met the most welcoming people. It was so nice to have access to a little fridge, kitchen area, electricity, and wifi. We loved that this place was dog friendly as well. The host was quick to respond to any questions we had. Thank you!

Blue Sky Center is such a unique glamping option, and we had such a great time staying there for the weekend. We had very cold weather, but Melanie was great about bringing extra blankets and heaters so we could stay nice and toasty. Would love to visit again!

In my opinion Pope’s Hut was the best looking hut with its quaint shape and interesting interior. The bed was simple yet comfy. We stayed with our pets and it was the perfect space. Will most definitely come back!
