Greetings! We will not host individual camping in 2022. Please message us if you are interested in group camping (40+ campers) and we will see if we can accommodate you. Thanks for your support!

Owl Stage Camps are located in the area we usually place the second stage at our festivals (the Arlo Stage at Kate Wolf Festival marked by a giant owl painting).

Black Oak Ranch has hosted music festivals on our beautiful 150 acre property for almost 30 years, including The Hog Farm Pignic, Earthdance, The Kate Wolf Music Festival, and the inaugural Hog Farm Hideaway scheduled for next year. Conveniently located just off of Highway 101 in Mendocino County, Black Oak Ranch is home to majestic old oak trees, leafy bay groves, and Ten Mile Creek which is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. Black Oak Ranch has an abundance of wildlife including deer, raptors, and our newest residents, a couple of families of beavers! Please note: our property is conveniently located just off of Highway 101 and you will hear noise from the highway.

Campsites are on flat terrain. Campsites have shade most or all of the day. The creek is a short walk away from each campsite. Please plan on making your site your own by bringing your own setups, gas-powered camp stoves, etc. We will provide a 6' table and some folding chairs to get you started. We suggest bringing a festive table cover. No wood or charcoal fires or BBQs due to high fire danger. Gas fire bowls are allowed as long as they are not placed on grass (we can help you place them). All bathrooms are port-o-lets. We do not offer showers at this time. Ten Mile creek is great for wading and some parts of the creek are swimmable depending on the time of year. Note: Depending on how much rain we get in the winter Ten Mile Creek can be quite dry late in the summer although there is usually at least one swimmable pool. Feel free to inquire about the status of the creek. Kids 12 and under are free.

Owl Stage Camp was a wonderful campsite! The site itself had both sun and shade, and was a short distance to the creek. While there were more campers than our prior visit, it was still very private and really quiet (minus the frogs!). Biasha was a very warm and welcoming host and helped us with everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back!

The camping area exceeded expectations. Even though we could hear Hwy 101 in the background, it was not intrusive. The oak and bay wooded area felt very private and away-from-it all, with nicely shaded areas to enjoy. The campsite was at a good distance from the other two campsites that we could see. As it turned out, we were the only campers, so it was very private! The porta potty for our site was clean and stocked with TP. We would like to return in the spring when the creek and the swimming holes have more water. They look very appealing. Last but not least : Biasha, our hostess, responded promptly to all inquiries!

Description was very accurate to site. Lots of distancing, very clean port a potties, plenty of shade trees, polite host and guests. Bring earplugs for the highway noise!

After four months of not going anywhere this sounded like a safe way to get away to a place we know and love while still socially isolating. It did not disappoint. The beautiful Black Oak Ranch is alive with wildlife this year when so few people are around and the campsites are far enough apart to provide privacy and safety.

Owl camp had a nice amount of shade - good in the heat of the day! The way they are set up all the camps have a good amount of shade and privacy. Our closest neighbor to either side was a good football field away. Everyone was observant of the masking and distancing rules and we had a nice, safe trip.

Our only stop on the way to and from was at our local Costco for gas. We brought everything we needed to avoid going into Laytonville, and packed out everything we brought to avoid contributing to anyone else's garbage. Please do the same if you visit.
