Bigfoot basin rocks my socks
Had a great getaway at this spot over the weekend. Tammy was an excellent host and the campsite was tucked down and away in their backyard.
- Creek runs along both campsites
- We saw fish and crawdads
- There's tables and chairs at each site
- Ground was level and relatively soft to sleep on
- Shower and Bathroom located in lower unit of host's house
- Bigfoot Statue!
- Very Quiet
- Didn't see a lot of mosquitos or ticks
- Very tight squeeze if driving down to the site in a wider vehicle
- 2 campsites are very close to each other so there's not a lot of privacy. Strongly recommend getting a bigger group and renting out both spots.
- If you need to go back into town for supplies, drive there. There's no sidewalk along the road so walking is a little perilous.
- Tammy sometimes feeds the fish at night. Really cool to watch them eat and swim.
Relaxing creek & camping area
This was an amazing spot to go camping! The creek is calm & the running water makes a peaceful atmosphere. Tammy was very welcoming & went over the space in detail upon arrival. The golf cart was super useful since I didn’t want to drive my car down to the space. The bathroom was well kept & the surrounding area was quiet. The hammock was nice to read a book & see the turtle pop their head in & out of the creek every once in a while. I enjoyed a very relaxing time here overall!
I’m definitely going to plan to bring my friends here so we can all enjoy this perfect camping spot together!
Would recommend to friends
This spot was lovely- a real oasis and great if you want camp all to yourself/your family. We loved have the creek for our little tots to explore.
Tammy was so friendly and came to feed the creek fishes at night and the kids got a great show. Lovely hosts all around.
The reviews all mention a crazy steep driveway - while that’s true, we drive a land rover and made it down fine - just be very careful not to scrape a redwood at the turn.
-proximity to road - we could hear all the traffic.
-an abundance of yellow jackets which stung our toddler and my husband while just sitting and walking around.
It was great! Tammy was very welcoming and showed us around. The little creek is nice. We ended up having the whole place to ourselves. I would certainly consider going back if I was in the area.
Oh, and the golf cart is fun.
Recommended for most gracious hosts
Steve and Tammy went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for in a host. We foolishly tried to bring our camper van down into the camp space and had more than a little difficulty getting ourselves back up the hill. We should have taken Tammy's advice to simply park the camper on a flat pull out at the top of the hill. This would have been perfectly fine and the short walk down the hill to enjoy the campgrounds would have been a piece of cake. Let's just say that 2 hours of jacking, sawzalling root flares, digging/setting traction boards under our tires and finally towing and we were up the hill was a total bummer (fully created by ourselves) and we felt so bad needing Steve's help to get us out. Without once making us feel like the fools we so obviously were, Steve graciously helped diligently and patiently to get us out of the mess we had created. Aside from being stellar hosts, the space is absolutely serene and the creekside camping is as good as could be hoped for. We highly recommend this Hipcamp to everyone who would enjoy a quiet creekside retreat.
Gorgeous spot by the stream
Just stayed here one night, but would have loved to make it a week. The spot is secluded in a little canyon with fern covered walls and a tranquil stream running through. My dog enjoyed splashing in the water, and I appreciated the leashed run that extended along the shore. Very comfy chairs and picnic table, next to a fire pit which we didn't end up using. A little sandy by the shore, and a rough road down if you don't have a high-clearance vehicle.
Great location! Isolated, and great night views. Spacious, good fire pit spaces. Really enjoyed this place with my 2 year old son. He loved it too. Big trampoline was a great plus!
Will def come here again
