Our stay at Bar SZ ranch was above and beyond expectations for New Years weekend. Tim and Michelle and their family were generous with their ranch, their own stories and making sure we were super comfortable and enjoying all the beautiful place had to offer. Can’t recommend enough. Coming back for sure!

We had an amazing stay at Cowboy Village at Bar SZ Ranch! I had been out to the property once before but the Cowboy Village tents were new to me. We were a group of 4 so we didn't utilize all the beds but we did double up some of the blankets since it was chilly at night! I love Bar SZ in general because there is just so much to do! The Cowboy Village tents are a great option between straight-up camping and staying in the larger ranch homes. You still get to enjoy all the amenities of the ranch with a comfortable bed with down comforters and quality sheets, a fan, a lamp, electricity, and picnic tables all provided. I definitely want to come back again!

My friends and I had an amazing stay here. Everything from the tents, animals, and people were beyond our expectations. I was a bit nervous that we wouldn’t be warm enough in the tents visiting in late fall but their beds and bedding were extremely comfortable and warm. We were also over joyed to have visited while they had newborn kittens and bunnies. Last hilight was their young daughter Maddie sharing how the family runs the ranch and takes care of their animals. She was so intelligent and sweet. I would highly recommend a weekend here to anyone.

We had an absolutely incredible time staying at Bar SZ Ranch. Rebekah was very proactive in advance of our stay - going above and beyond what I would expect from a host. She knew we would be hiking in the nearby Pinnacles National Park, and kept us updated with the government shutdown and new information on partial park closures.

We loved the nighttime campfires and being allowed to experience and even help out with the animal feeding and care. Tim was patient with our questions and generous to help us out when we needed supplies for our grill. Everyone at the ranch was very friendly and accommodating. We cannot wait to come back and stay again at Tim & Michelle's ranch!

Five stars also for Mufasa - our favorite of the ranch cats!

Absolutely magical. Tim was an incredibly gracious host. Our two kids, aged 5 and 8, had a blast exploring the ranch. From cuddling the newborn kittens to feeding the 6-day old lamb, they had so many wonderful encounters with the animals on the ranch. Malia, the intern, was especially patient and warm with the kids. Our little ones loved doing morning chores with her, and our daughter enjoyed horseback riding with Malia’s guidance. The setting for the ranch is stunning. We loved hiking the nearby hills at sunset and spending a morning at Pinnacles National Park, just a few minutes away (so you can get an early start and beat the crowds to get parking at the Bear Gulch Trail.) The free archery set up was awesome; even our five year old was able to do it. We appreciated meeting all of the other families at the ranch, sharing a fire together, and roasting smores under the dazzling starry sky.

Our experience at Bar SZ ranch was outstanding! I have already recommended this place to friends even before our trip. Everyone on the ranch was super friendly. We learned a lot about the ranch and animals. Kids had a blast! My youngest (3) loved watching, patting and feeding the animals. And the older two boys (6&10) enjoyed archery, BB gun and pool table the most. Would definitely come back again!!!
My youngest said she would take our house apart so she could live here everyday lol.

Super fun the tents were clean, showers were clean. The campsites were pretty close together and the way they were set up everyone seemed to use the same 2 porta potties... by the end of the weekend it was pretty grim in there. The showers however were extremely clean! There were a total of 4 porta potties for everyone to use. The activities were really fun. The Arena riding was great for the younger kids who actually learned how to ride! By themselves! The trail ride was fun as well for the older kids. The shooting was also fun for the people who went in our group. I liked how they tried to separate out all the groups but since our group was so small we ended up doing a lot of things with others. (IE the trail ride and shooting) they were not going to set up the archery and the BB gun shooting because they were afraid all the kids would congregate, but when my son asked about it they said they would. And they held off a big group of kids and let our group shoot first which I appreciated a lot. Our kids loved feeding the animals and petting the bunnies. Unfortunately the creek was dried up on our stay and the temps were in the upper 90’s but everyone still found ways to enjoy themselves. Tim came and checked on us every night to see if we needed anything. Michelle and the Jr ranchers were so nice and helpful and patient with our kids. I think we will pick a different weekend to come back to enjoy all the activities and animals next time. Highly recommended!

Bar SZ is absolutely amazing. What an unexpected gem that is only 2 hours away from the SF Bay Area. We were personally greeted by Tim after driving directly to our site. Michelle checked in on us throughout our stay. They tailored events based on how many kids were present.

The activities span the day and are guided and amazing.
* Playing with 2 week-old bunnies and kittens on the lawn.
* Feeding the animals (donkeys, pigs, sheep, and even a cow by bottle)
* Brushing horses
* Shearing sheep
* Running through the sprinklers
* Nighttime capture the flag with glow sticks
* Oak BBQ pit
* Fire Pit
* Shooting 22's and shotguns (adults)
* Learning safety and doing archery and BB guns (kids)

We didn't just watch the above, we were encouraged to actively participate.

Tim, Michelle and their amazing (and well-adjusted) kids brought us in to their life and we loved being part of it.

We spent 2 nights and 1 (full) day and left with so many memories.

Thank you Bar SZ for an amazing vacation - we look forward to seeing you very soon.

The plethora of shooting stars was a nice touch :)
