Beautiful camp site
Amazing and kind hosts. They go above and beyond to provide a good experience. Pure silence in the woods that feels secluded yet safe. Very kind people running the operation.
This review is for site 2 -- the one closest to the river. This is a very beautiful and private spot about a 10 minute walk from the main property. You can't drive down to it so the host takes you and your things in a golf cart. The site is very basic - at the time we went (a few months after they started this Hipcamp) there was a bucket toilet, no fire pit (also understandably no fires anyway at this time of year), and also the only water was the creek or hiking back up to the main property. The site is large with plenty of room for 4 tents and 2 picnic tables. We had a great time hiking down to the creek and just hanging out in the forest. The kids also liked meeting the animals and playing on the swingset and trampoline up near the house. Our hosts were super nice and accommodating.
Great stay. Site #2 is super private and so nice next to a creek. Robert the host is very grascious and his ranch with horses is so nice. He has lots of land to hike around. Great location near santa cruz. The onlu issur is they recently had a fire here and its a bit ashy around. But would definately come again. Thanks robert!
So close yet so far away!
We had a lovely weekend at Redwood Landing, just what we needed. Very peaceful and quiet at the end of the road in the hills of Bonny Doon. We stayed at campsite 1 and be aware if you stay there it’s very open and exposed. Great for stargazing, but there’s a stretch in mid day when there is no shade anywhere in camp. We found a little spot down a trail to set up our hammock and lounge chair for those hours and it was fine.
Looking forward to trying campsite 2 next time which looks truly magical. Very near the creek so cooler/more shade, more wildlife, and the sound of running water all night.
The description mentions the CZU fire and that made me a bit nervous, but this area was spared the total devastation I’ve seen elsewhere from that fire. Most of the redwoods and a lot of other trees did survive here. It looks like a natural/healthy fire passed through here that cleared out much of the undergrowth.
Serene, secluded oasis
Robert was simply an excellent host! He promptly met us at the parking area and drove us down to our beautiful and secluded campsite. We enjoyed the birds, creek, amazing redwoods, and nature bathing. It was our first camping trip with kids & they loved it. They quite enjoyed the mini “tractor” that Roberto transported us on. We were sent away with a great goodie bag of eggs & we heard the legendary story behind his property. Definitely a special trip. Thank you!
Lovely stay on the Ranch. We stayed in Site 2 which was a extremely private. I enjoyed that the only thing i could hear from the site was the stream and nature. Started our day with a cold plunge in the stream and took day trips to santa cruz and pescadero. Would stay again. Thanks Robert!
Doug was most hospitable and our group of 8 adults, kids and dog had a fun time last weekend at Site 1 - an open field w/ lots of room to run and play. Nice shady trail down to the creek and Site 2. The amenities are basic - picnic table, running water, and a bucket for potty. Lovely touch w/the tablecloth and flowers - very welcoming! Fresh eggs are delicious too.
Beautiful seclusion with creek
Robert and Denise were wonderfully gracious hosts, and the property is wild and beautiful. Near their beautiful ranch home were goats, horses, a small play area, and Cinderella pumpkins to see. That is also where we refilled water bottles with drinkable water from a spigot. Our campsite, number two, was a mile off the road, and Robert took us and our things to the site in his all-terrain vehicle, which was a fun adventure. A toilet was provided but bring your own toilet paper. At night, owl and cricket sounds lulled us to sleep. By day, we could hear the creek below. The creek is so beautiful, it feels like a sacred space. Within close driving distance were the Roaring Camp railroad and Henry Cowell Redwood Forest with its Garden of Eden swim hole, both of which we really enjoyed. If you want the seclusion of a backpacking adventure while having access to a few amenities, this is perfect. We really enjoyed ourselves.
