Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers! Please note there is a 2 night minimum on weekends (if overlaps with a Fri or Sat) and a 3 night minimum for holiday weekends.

We're well-located for a weekend getaway (~2.5 hours from the East Bay and ~3 hours from SF) and as a base for your adventures in the Sierras. There's lots to explore nearby with Big Trees State Park and Stanislaus National Forest within minutes, lakes, skiing, mountain towns and wine-tasting, or just relax at the cabin and take in the view.

The cabin is on a small parcel in a quiet neighborhood, removed but close to town. We're a 5-minute walk to the Stanislaus National Forest/Arnold Rim Trail (we provide a custom map for nearby hikes), 10-minute drive to Big Trees State Park, 15 minutes to the town of Murphys (great wineries, pubs and dining), 40 minutes to Bear Valley Ski Resort, 10 minutes to White Pines Lake, 45 minutes to Lake Alpine and Utica and Union lakes. We’re happy to recommend our favorite spots for hiking and swimming. If your trip is taking you farther afield, we’re ~2 hours from Yosemite's Big Oak Flat entrance, and 2.5 hours from Lake Tahoe via the less-traveled Highway 4 in warmer months.

We do our best here to strike a balance between simple amenities and comfort. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway.

There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. If you have a laptop you can hook it up to our projector (adaptors for thunderbolt 2, DVI-D, mini DV). We have loads of board games and puzzles.

The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper.  Help yourself to organic coffee and tea!

The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone.

The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom.

We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months.

The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels!

The Arnold A-frame was super cute and cozy. It was on a very quiet street and had a lovely deck. We used the projector on the blinds and it was a fun experience. We definitely want to come back in the winter to experience the snow from the amazing wall of windows!

What a charming place! We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay at the Arnold A-Frame. The cabin is conveniently located so that you can make a day of being right where you are or if you choose to venture up the highway you will be rewarded with more beauty and adventure. The house has everything you need and if you're like us, a welcomed confrontation with the fact that you don't need half of what you have where ever you've come from. Enjoy the energy and simplicity of this lovely place!

The Little Arnold A-Frame was the perfect getaway — we couldn't have asked for a better space to unwind, relax, and enjoy nature in simple luxury. Andria has truly thought of every little detail to make your stay comfortable, and it shows throughout the cabin! It feels incredibly homey, just the right amount of space and amenities. She is also extremely communicative, and a wonderful host.

The cabin is in a peaceful, quiet area on the outskirts of town, just a short walk from some lovely hiking trails with amazing panoramic views — from there, we could see the snow-capped mountains over Sonora Pass on one side, and Mt. Diablo on the other. We also spotted deer and turkeys on the trail and in the neighborhood. It was so still at night, and stargazing from the deck through the towering pines was quite an experience. And it really is just a few minutes from Calaveras Big Trees with more amazing trails and trees to take in.

When not hiking, we spent most of the days cozied up by the fire, cooking full meals in the well-stocked kitchen, enjoying the abundant natural light streaming in through the skylights, and just soaking in the floor-to-ceiling forest views. One of the most restful weeks we've had in a long time. We really didn't want to leave! Thank you, Andria, for sharing your special cabin with others!

What a great cabin to get away in for a few days. Well-appointed, cute and so close to good hikes.
We're hoping to come back here in the future for sure. Opening up the cabin in the evening for a cross breeze kept it nice and cool during the warmer days we were there. The downstairs room is much better for folks who sleep better in the dark, but both beds seemed comfy and sturdy.

Arnold CA is a great town to explore and it was my first time being there with my husband. The cabin is adorable and is very spacious for two people. I felt like it was well stocked- clean towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, etc, even bug spray! There is a washer and dryer which is super great/convenient in case you have to wash anything. I especially loved the fact all the soap, shampoo, etc are all clean ingredients, eco friendly products-that is exactly what I like to use! There are a bunch of board games which were fun to play in the evening! On the deck there is table and chair for 2 which was perfect to have breakfast out!
The only con was the fact that it is difficult to cool down the cabin in the summer. We arrived very late on Friday evening and all the windows were open but the thermostat read 85deg F, while outside it was a lot cooler. The heater was “off” and we did confirm. The host left tips on how to cool the place down but for me it was a lot more work than I wanted to do on a weekend getaway. I don’t mind a place with no AC but I think the description should include info on how to keep the cabin cool during the summer time so guests can decide if it’s worth the stay.
So that first night my husband and I barely slept because of the heat. During the day we expected it to be hot because Arnold gets pretty hot in the summer time (90-95 deg F while we were there-which we were expecting). I live in petaluma CA which has hot summers and cool evenings. To cool my place down in the evening, we just have to open our windows. I didn't feel like it was that straight forward at this cabin. The windows had been opened with a fan blowing for possibly several hours before we came to the cabin and it was uncomfortably hot. We should have gotten to the cabin hours earlier but we got a flat tire on the drive there which caused us to be delayed by a few hours.
The next morning on Saturday, my husband looked around some more and we both were confused as to why it was so hot. He checked the nest again to make sure it was off, and it was. He noticed the pilot light was on for the furnace and it felt warm to the touch. We ended up turning off the pilot light because we were desperate to cool down the place on Saturday evening. The second night we slept downstairs, and it was a lot better, and I felt like it could be a combination of the furnace being completely off and the windows open (we only closed the sliding doors on the deck while we were gone but they always were open while we were at the cabin).
I would totally stay here during the colder months, but not the summer time because the dry heat + hot cabin caused me to have nose bleeds & difficultly sleeping, and like I mentioned earlier- it took more effort/work to cool the place down which isn’t something I want to do when I don’t have a lot of time.
I also want to mention this situation could be a complete one-off. Prior to booking I didn't read any reviews regarding temperature of cabin being an issue during summer months.

This is a wonderful spot and Andria is responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable, The decor is great, and it is a pleasant and cozy spot to spend some time. I was there with my girlfriend and parents for their birthday weekend. The cabin is near the top of the subdivision and there is hiking nearby and town is close by within 5 min and lots of great sights are within a short drive as well.
