High clearance cars are recommended, however most cars have had no issues making it down. It all depends on how comfortable the driver is in their vehicle on a dirt road. We are located about 20 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara.

Magical yurt playrgound
What an awesome time at Harmony's yurt we had! Although a last-minute decision to stay the one available night here, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to the area! I do, however, think fellow Hipcampers could benefit from a bit more info before they book, here I go-
If you read one part of my review make it this- you will NEED a higher-clearance car to make the trip all the way down the mountain to this location. We happened to drive a 4Runner, but a sedan would just not make it. It is a curvy dirt road with holes the last ~10 minutes after the GPS drops you off from the paved road. I do wish there were a bit more signs, but just keep going until you reach a clearing with two porto-potties (which are very clean btw), this is where you park. FYI- you'll probably lose service before you get to this point, so plan accordingly. There are conveniently placed carts to help shuttle your stuff across the bridge and to the Yurt, nice touch!
The Yurt itself is fantastic. Impeccably clean and overall adorable. Bed was comfy, a lantern provided, Harmony even brought us a propane heater- definitely my glampiest experience! The rest of the grounds is huge! Would be so fun to rent each campsite (there are several-but only one per booking in covid times) with a large group of friends. There's a large cooking area/stove (just bring a long lighter & cookware) for anything you need. The HOT TUB- oh my, we weren't going to book it but i'm so glad we did. They will come light the fire for you & fill it up, the adorable tub stays hot for hours & is such a treat in the trees near the stream. Definitely a must.
We loved that this was dog-friendly, the neighbor dog also loved this, as he was *very* friendly with our pup, and though he is very large, is also very sweet.
The Waterfall hike- it is only a 30-45 minute hike each way, ending at a beautiful waterfall that looks like it would be an amazing swimming area in warmer temps, but there are some caveats. The actual "trail" only extends a bit until you get to the creek, so just follow the water until you arrive. This will require zigzagging across rocks and some strategy to get there. Our bigger issue is that we found several ticks on our dog after returning. Thankfully he already had been medicated for ticks, so if you bring your pup this is necessary. Spray yourselves with insect repellent before you go! And watch for poison oak, I noticed it mostly in the beginning of the trail. I still think this walk is worth it- just utilize the heated outdoor shower when you return!
Overall our short experience here was great & Harmony was a delightful but unobtrusive host. I'd definitely like to come back, the proximity to Santa Barbara is unbeatable- but you are definitely out in nature!
I hate to share with public how beautiful this gem of a location is, but its only fair! Beautiful camp site in remote location with immediate access to running stream. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, this is your spot!
A must stay.
Just got back from the most wonderful trip at Harmony’s Yurt, HIGHLY recommend it.
It’s truly off the grid, stunning set up, very clean Yurt and a great camp set up. Would definitely love to come back with a bigger crew and have everyone camp alongside the yurt.
Perfect Glamping experience if you are a beginner and don’t quite know how to make a fire (they have propane fire pits and a propane hot plate to cook on).
The wood fire hot tub is a must do experience, a bit pricey but worth it.
The other reviews are bang on, the 10 mins dirt road is no joke, Defo must be done in sunlight.
The waterfall hike I wish someone would mark the route, we set off in the trail. It kind of dead ended at the river so we crossed it. And then found ourselves walking all the way up the river, walking from rock to Rock all the way to the fall. Well worth it. The way back we tried to follow the train and it dead ended at a cliff side so took the river route the way back.
Truly magnificent spot and will be coming back soon!
So easy to write this review, and I’m guilty of never taking the time to write reviews. This place is great, not only because of the beautiful surroundings where you feel like you’re deep in the mountains when you’re really just a 20 minute drive to SB, but also because you have the whole campground to yourselves, there is plenty to explore and the hosts are great, helpful and accommodating. The hot tub was great as was the shower and cooking area and equipment. The yurt is really comfortable and the pics online represent it well. Portable toilets are clean. MOST IMPORTANTLY, do not try to drive a sedan there! The road down to the campsite is dirt, very bumpy in places, narrow and not forgiving. We took our two wheel drive jeep and it was fine. Kids already want to go back. Would definitely recommend this to friends.
Very unique experience!
I booked two nights with my family and 2 dogs and it was so fun. It was unlike any other experience ive had. The yurt was actually pretty big and the bed was comfy. The drive is pretty treacherous so make sure you drive a high clearance vehicle (nothing low to the ground). My dogs loved running and playing around. The hot tub was so nice. The shower was warm and the bathrooms were clean. We could not find the waterfall when we hiked but the walk was still very nice. If you ever want to experience nature with your friends, family, or significant others i recommend this!
