A converted garden shed-turned guest space in our backyard. This 99sf cabin sits above a beautiful garden on Deer Creek, minutes' walking distance from downtown. Between the creek and the surrounding trees, it's easy to forget that you're in town- if you're lucky, you'll see a blue heron cruise through the creek canyon. We've also seen black bears and mountain lions come through on occasion. If you have a fly fishing rod, you're welcome to fish on the creek.
From the cabin, you can hang out in or on the creek, go for a walk or run on trails just outside your door ranging from 1-7 miles round trip, or take your mountain bike up the hill to established bike and horse trails. More broadly, this can work as a comfortable base for anyone looking to do day trips in the area. The Sierra Buttes, Downieville, PCT, Truckee, and Lake Tahoe are all within a 1.5 hour drive.
The path to the cabin is a combination of steep concrete stairs, and decomposed granite on a slope into the yard. If you have trouble walking or balancing, we do not recommend this space! THIS ALSO APPLIES TO SMALL CHILDREN. This is not a good space to bring small children, as there are a lot of falling hazards.
The cabin has a pull-out sleeper sofa that accommodates two people, and a simple table with a foot pump sink, electric water kettle for making coffee or tea, heater/air purifier, mini-fridge, and beautiful outdoor shower. We're still working on increased privacy for the shower, so bring a bathing suit just in case! We are happy to provide some towels and linens on request.
We have a very friendly dog, an elderly, diabetic cat, and a garden we cherish; your fur friends are also welcome, if they are well-behaved, under control, friendly, and you clean up after them.
Parking may be variable, depending on space in front of the house, so there is a *chance* that you will have to park in a lot just uphill from the house overnight. For loading and unloading, you are guaranteed space in front of the house.

Amy was a wonderful host and the cabin was beautiful. It is small and rustic, but was perfect for our overnight trip to Nevada City It is located on a beautiful plot by Deer Creek right in town...a two minute walk to coffee, shopping, dinner and more.
Terrific cozy cabin complete with numerous thoughtful details and river sounds to fall asleep to. Bonus patio, perfect to enjoy a coffee. Location was hard to beat and Amy was very nice to talk to and helpful with recommendations.
convenient and cozy -- we had a great stay here!
This was a super fun and unique stay! We brought our pet rabbit and Amy was more than welcoming :)
Very quaint, small cabin near the river and the adorable town of Nevada City.

The outdoor environment is what you’re really paying for, the garden is nice and staying by the creek is cool. I would say that is the awesome factor. The cabin still needs a lot of work, the pump sink did t have any water, the compost restroom needed a bit more clear instructions, we were not sure if it was already set up. I would agree it is more as base camp and served our purposes as a quick over night stay anything more than 2 days I wouldn’t recommend.
This cabin is so special! Perfect spot to rest in Nevada City. The creek flowing outside was so nice to sleep with and space is cozy and comfortable. I would absolutely stay here again.
Rustic cabin, compostable toilet but if you get beyond this, it’s a magical place. Nothing like soaking your feet in the cool waters of the stream or sitting in the small patio under the beer hops and taking in the scenery and listening to the rush of the stream nearby. Amy is very hospitable and gives you great suggestions. She also lend me her iPhone charger which I had forgotten to bring. Loved staying here.

This is a charming and rustic cabin that has a few key amenities like a small fridge and outlets for electricity. The sitting + sleeping area is well designed as there's a foldout couch and is well decorated. One highlight is the lush garden and sitting area near the creek and sounds of rushing water, and another is the glorious outdoor shower! You can walk into town from the front door in 5 min or less and are about 20 minutes or so from amazing swim spots along the Yuba river.

Hi, Yg- I'm so sorry you had problems with the sink. I always make sure to leave the water tank full before guests arrive. I have had to adjust the tube that runs into the water tank on occasion, to get it to flow; I wonder if that was the problem. Regarding the toilet, I also always leave instructions on the table in the form of a manual, along with a quick-sheet of general instructions for the cabin. I'll reconsider how I place it for guests when I'm not around. I'm sorry I wasn't at home that weekend to help you work these issues out. Thanks again, for staying!
