This property has seen so much change. First and foremost, it is ancestral Nisenan land, that was taken by white settlers in search of gold. Over the years it has had miners, digging tunnels into the rock; a livery that held horses and wagons of visitors during the gold rush; shanty cabins that were occupied by miners, families, and others; during the 1970s and 1980s it was a place where newcomers to town could dependably go to find a place to stay, and some cash to feed themselves thanks to a very generous land owner; during the 1990s it was a spot where highschoolers came to smoke weed or trip on acid on the creek; in the late 90's and early 00's it was rebuilt by a very talented and thoughtful man, named Joe; and a few owners later I find myself as the steward, elated to live here and share it with others. I participate in a reciprocity program, with the local Nisenan community, and encourage everyone regularly who live here, or visit here to take some time to educate themselves about this land, its original inhabitants, and to give back if they are able: please google "CHIRP reciprocity program".

Cabin On The Creek

Lovely and peaceful overnight stay

Amy was a wonderful host and the cabin was beautiful. It is small and rustic, but was perfect for our overnight trip to Nevada City It is located on a beautiful plot by Deer Creek right in town...a two minute walk to coffee, shopping, dinner and more.

Terrific cozy cabin complete with numerous thoughtful details and river sounds to fall asleep to. Bonus patio, perfect to enjoy a coffee. Location was hard to beat and Amy was very nice to talk to and helpful with recommendations.

Cabin On The Creek

The outdoor environment is what you’re really paying for, the garden is nice and staying by the creek is cool. I would say that is the awesome factor. The cabin still needs a lot of work, the pump sink did t have any water, the compost restroom needed a bit more clear instructions, we were not sure if it was already set up. I would agree it is more as base camp and served our purposes as a quick over night stay anything more than 2 days I wouldn’t recommend.
