Located in Idyllwild, CA the 11 Chimney's Campground takes advantage of the beautiful mountain scenery on its 11 acre property. The campsite is about a 5 minute drive from town but maintains a remote location. The campground includes a bathroom, water & backs up to a scenic hiking trail. Guests will have access to all open areas within the property and are encouraged to explore the grounds to better appreciate and respect the nature around them. If you are looking for some fresh air we encourage you to come pitch a tent at the 11 Chimneys Campground. Whether you come with family, friends or decide to enjoy some quiet time alone this campground provides campers a unique dispersed camping experience. Upon your arrival you can look forward to enjoying some peace and quiet; and At any point where you feel like you have had your fill of peace and quiet, campers are just a 5 minute drive into town. This is where campers can eat some good food, explore the many shops, pick up some groceries and even listen to some live music. Due to fire restrictions no wood burning fires will be allowed however campers will be allowed to use propane as an alternative so that they can retain some of the genuine camping experience. You will find that after sunset the stars come alive and this campsite has an amazing opening in which to view all the sights the sky has to offer.

Pine Crest Campsite
The campsite was beautiful and super well kept! We were a good distance away from the nearest campers and lodges so it felt nice and remote. Night time was particularly peaceful with the unobstructed view of the sky/stars. The campsite signs are color coded and the campsite color is not noted in the description so be sure to contact the host beforehand to know exactly where to go. The hill to get up to the site is also a bit steep so do take the site’s recommendation seriously to have 4WD. We had a 4WD car and got up no problem. Another car in our party was 2WD and had problems making it up the hill so they had to park at the bottom of the hill. Overall, this is a great site and I would definitely recommend staying here! The proximity to the town center and nearby trails is hard to beat!

Manzanita Grove Campsite
Quiet, Very Private, Close to Town
This review is specific to the Manzanita Grove site. I camped there solo on a Friday and Saturday night in order to do a big hike on Saturday. The Good: - This site is very private. Could not see other campers from it. I had a portable shower and didn't even have to use the pop-up shower canopy it was that private. - Private trail to the bathroom clearly marked. - Bathroom very clean but note, it ran out of TP on Sunday AM. I had some extra and left a roll in there for others. - Two very specific spots to pitch tents or setup your kitchen/relaxation area. - One space got shade in AM, one in PM. Me being solo I just moved my chair to the shady spot and skipped setting up my canopy. - Once you read the welcome notes, site is easy to find. I was expecting a sign to "Manzanita Grove". Host has them marked by color. Once I re-read the notes it clearly said RED and then site was easy to find. Not so good (minor): - Dirt roads to sites slightly rutted and narrow. I have an offroad vehicle so I had no issues. I saw some campers parked near the entrance and carried stuff up. - Bathroom ran out of TP - Wasn't clear where to get water. Found it by mistake it is down near the bathrooms. - Manzanita site is on a slope. I sleep in my truck so while not far, packing and unpacking gear at altitude up and down the slope was tiring. I would camp here again, especially this site due to privacy. Town was 5 minutes away. Note I never did see the infamous Ian from the other reviews!

Oak Flats Campsite
This was my bf and mine first time using Hipcamp and upon reading the reviews for 11 Chimneys, we were excited to camp at Oak Flats Campground but left disappointed. The host never came by to check us in or introduce themself. We had questions upon arriving and we didn't know where things were (restroom, trash bins, water, etc.). All we received prior to arriving was parking instruction and to read over the listed rules before arriving. Let me be very clear that Oak Flats is VERY small. The entire camp spot is a long parking spot which we were confuse because the instruction said to follow the orange reflector and park there. It was difficult for our RAV4 to make it up the dirt road that we were instructed to follow. It felt like we were off-roading each time we went up and down the hill to the camp spot. If your car is not AWD, I fear your car may not make it. Since the spot was so small, we backed our car closer to the road and set up tent in front of the car. The camp itself is very close to town so you can certainly drive to explore eateries in Idyllwild or do hiking trails nearby. There is a restroom on the other side of the campsite and this was probably the only redeeming thing about this spot since there is a fully running toilet w/ sink & mirror, you don't get these while camping! Overall, we will not be back but hopefully this review help another person to know what they're paying for. Oh, would recommend bring your own table since there isn't one at this site.
