There is a river that runs through for cooling off after a full day of exploring, berry picking and perhaps seeing some of the wildlife that abounds. All of our campsites are located directly on the river. Practice bear safety at all times and bring your bear spray for hiking around. There are pit toilets, picnic tables and fire pits. No garbage service, so pack out what you pack in.
Just half an hour drive in off the Highway. The road is a decent logging road with no cross ditches and clear May till November for vehicles. Campsites are all right on the Mad River.
Enjoy peaceful quiet without cell service. PLEASE NOTE Check-in is between 1 pm and 10 pm ONLY. No later check-in, for other guests' comfort. Please advise us of your approximate eta, and text the phone number on your reservation confirmation when you reach the pull-out on the highway so we may notify any logging road traffic.
The river on the property can fluctuate in flow quickly and is not suitable for tubing as there are log jambs and waterfalls downstream.

Paradise off grid, wonderful hosts
This beautiful spot is paradise. Be prepared for a bit of a trek to get there, 17kms off the main highway but it's well worth it. The hosts Sarah and Shawn are amazing people who are truly homesteading off grid in a very impressive way. There's something for everyone here. If you like to get away from the hustle and bustle of typical camp spots this is definitely a place to visit. If you get a chance to spend a bit of time with the hosts to learn about what they have accomplished there it will make your visit even more worthwhile. We look forward to going back!
This is an amazing place to camp! Our site was right by the river and had a beautiful picnic table and stone fire ring. Be prepared for an adventurous 30 minute drive down a logging road (I'm glad we were in an SUV). Shawn and Sarah are amazing and showed us their beautiful land complete with piglets, an ingenious greenhouse, and a bridge built over a river canyon! Their log home is stunning to see. Definitely recommend camping here if you're looking for an adventurous place to camp (keep a bear-safe campsite!)
Thank you Sarah and Shawn. Once again we had a wonderful time at your property. This was a second time there this year. Only this time it was just my husband and myself, which of course made it so much more peaceful. Even though it rained quite a bit and was overcast, it was still great and didn't affect our stay. We were able to have a wood fire this time instead of the propane fire. Much nicer for roasting marshmallows. And we really enjoyed going for a walk around the property and seeing the differences in the scenery since the summer. The fall colours were spectacular. Sarah and Shawn are great hosts. They had fresh eggs again for us to purchase. And they showed us their new green house and the cabin. Can't wait to go back and see how things are progressing.

Thank you Sarah and Shawn for a wonderful stay at your beautiful property. We had such a great time and appreciate your flexibility with our dates. In addition, your zucchini bread did not last long. It was delicious! Thank you! The Silis Pack (Kevin, Lesa, Selah and Granger)

Nicest people you'll ever meet.
Wow, the authenticity, the generosity, the experience. All of it warrants 11/10 stars if it were possible. There isn't one bad thing to say about the Mad Fox Ranch & the owners.
We were greeted by the most beautiful and friendly huskies as we drove in. Sean & Sarah showed us around the property (in the rain), and made us feel at home right away. You can tell how much love and passion is going into this property. I cannot wait to come back and stay in the cabin.
Best,
Jeremy

Thank you Sarah and Shawn. We had a such a wonderful time. The property is spectacular and so spacious. And its so peaceful and relaxing, but still had a lot of things to keep the kids entertained as well. They had a blast in the river catching frogs and toads or just floating around. We can't wait to go back again.

Really nice spot, unfortunately we couldn’t stay to enjoy it. Incredible lightning storm followed by heavy rains. Hosts were friendly and accommodating. We will try to return some day with hopes for better weather!
Amazing place, we loved the trip
We can’t say enough good things about our stay with Sarah and Shawn. We ended up having the place to ourselves due to cancellations because smoke from fires. The smoke in their part of the valley was not to bad. We got to pick the site we wanted and we picked a big site right beside the river, it was a great view with a nice little river spot near the outhouse. The outhouse was clean and well cared for, it didn’t smell at all. We went to the canyon spot that had a deeper swimming hole and had a good swim. It was so beautiful and relaxing. We had our anniversary camping with them abs had mentioned it while talking with them. Sarah brought us some chocolate zucchini cake with a little sign that said happy anniversary. It was such an incredible touch to our experience and it really showed how great these hosts are. Hosts were more then accommodating offering any spot we wanted to hang out while on our trip. They even shared some garden veggies with us. We would highly recommend this campsite to anyone that like to do some incredible off grid camping. We will certainly be back as soon as we can. We had the best time.
Sarah and Shawn were excellent hosts! We were able to book a private river front campsite where we were able to let the dog run free and get a break from the heat in the river. Sarah and shawn have a small hobby farm with excellent eggs for purchase. The property is beautifully situated with panoramic mountian views. There was a nice walking path with raspberries ripe for picking along the way.
The road up is a bit rough but well worth it. In our old ('97) motorhome it look a while to get up but the drive itself is beautiful.
Excellent hosts and a beautiful sanctuary. Thank you so much Sarah and Shawn, we will certainly be returning when we have the opportunity!
