Great camping hideaway!
We had a fantastic stay at Fern Ridge with another couple and our two dogs. Mike and Lisa were wonderful hosts. We were greeted with kindness and had an enjoyable stay! We were offered an evening fire pit as well as a movie night of our choosing the following night if we wanted that even included some home made popcorn! :-) Smiles, Les, Rob, Nic, Shawn, Khloe and Olive
Enjoyed our stay at fern ridge
This was the first time we reserved through Hip Camp and we enjoyed our stay at Lisa's property. There were 2 sites setup on her property and the one we were in (site #1) was private. It was up a bit of a hill (less than 100 steps) so if you have a lot of camping gear you will definitely get a work out but we were fine with it. The site needed to be a bit more level for our tent(s) but for our tables we used wood blocks to level them out. I would suggest a bit more leveling for the site. Lisa had a porta potty on the property for guests to use & it was clean and well stocked. There was also a hose hooked up to a water basin where we could wash our hands and fill up our pots with water which was very handy. The property is just off the main road so you do hear quite a bit of traffic however we got use to this but if you are looking for peace & quiet this is not for you. There were a lot of mosquitoes so make sure to bring spray/citronella. Week to week you cannot control this & some will be impacted more than others.
We have a dog and we were very pleased that we could have her off leash the whole time during our stay. Lisa's dog 'Titan' was very friendly and got along with our dog. The 1st night we hung out at the communal fire pit with Lisa and her husband Mike along with the other campers which we enjoyed talking to one another & finding out some history about their property & themselves. On the 2nd night Lisa set up an outdoor movie theater (with buttered popcorn) for us campers to watch a movie Talladega Nights which was nice of them. For those who don't want to socialize with the Lisa or other campers you certainly can choose to stay at your site but it was a nice option to connect with Lisa and Mike as they were very hospitable hosts. We look forward to reserving a site on their property in the near future. Thanks for a great weekend!
Amazing place, fantastic hosts.
What an awesome experience.
We had a perfect weekend at Lisa and Mike's place, the camping site (we stayed in camping #1) has fantastic, private, surrounded by trees.
Lisa was a great host, very laid back and fun. The community area is excellent too, and there is a bbq to be used by the campers.
We are definitely coming back.
Mosquito spray is a must!
Fun, private, relaxing
We had an amazing time! The description of the site is very accurate. We got to enjoy the Bbq and At night we all watched a movie. Very nice hosts! Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone wanting to escape from the city.
Great camping trip
Lisa was a lovely host, who was very accommodating. It felt like she had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. The property was beautiful, and close to a couple different lakes. I would absolutely stay here again!
PS: Their dog Titan is too cute, he got along so well with my dog!
Perfect saturday night
Lisa and Mike have an amazing place. We stayed in Site 1 which was perfect for our 3 tents (2 x 3 Man Tent and 1 x 2 Man Tent). We spent the night by the firepit with Mike & Lisa watching the hockey and listening to music on the outdoor projector. It was the best way to spent a night. Mike and Lisa also gave us great tips for places to go and hike. Really enjoyed our stay. Would 100% recommend it and we hope we get the chance to stay again.
Kind & accommodating hosts
We had a great experience at Fern Ridge. Lisa was super accommodating and welcoming. It was super convenient to have so many things already provided: water, outhouse, firewood, bbq/grill, seating, picnic tables, chairs etc. We also loved their dog, Titan! Only thing that Hipcampers should be aware of is that their property is on a highway, and that their quiet time is later than most campsites. So, if you're an early or light sleeper and sensitive to sound, keep this in mind when booking. But, If you're wanting to listen to music, hang out or watch movies than this a perfect place for you! Overall, the space is beautiful and the hosts are super super kind.
