Murphys Peaceful Cranbrook Campsite
Off roading and no power
Your drive leaving Cranbrook to head to the site consists of 14kms of washboard gravel, not a huge problem just annoying. Once you make it to His property he guides you to a site you want which all are full off-roading to get to. It’s not a pleasant journey to the sites though once at them they are nice. Not every site has a picnic table and the fire pits are a little small.
And a big one *only one powered site*
It’s not great heading to a place advertising power and there is none, plus the power is spotty because he runs solar. I wouldn’t personally recommend this to anyone unless they are fine with off-road off grid camping.

Murphys Peaceful Cranbrook Campsite
Murphy went above and beyond to be an excellent host. He greeted us right on arrival and showed us to our campsite (which was absolutely perfect). Lots of privacy and right beside a creek. The second day, we decided to go for a hike, but we took the wrong route home, and ended up miles away from our car, and wouldn't make it back in daylight. Murphy was SO kind and picked us up and drove us to our car. I can't recommend this place enough and Murphy is an amazing host.

Murphys Peaceful Cranbrook Campsite
4 day retreat by the creek
Beautiful land, worth the drive down the gravel road (the first 5km or so from Cranbrook is worst but it smooths out). The creek is perfect for a dip, super refreshing and clear, and great to float on. We camped at a sheltered, shady spot right by the creek and juniper bushes. Fresh eggs every morning are a treat - you can feed the hens with your compost. Our host was super accommodating and helpful in so many ways - even when the car wouldn’t start when we tried to leave (maybe it was a sign to stay- ha) - he helped us to boost and provided tools we could take. There is cell service and also a good wifi signal for remote workers. Thank you and we look forward to come back and stay again.

Murphys Peaceful Cranbrook Campsite
False advertising
15km washboard gravel road. No I’d at site. No host reception. No one on site. No power. No showers. Terrible road (if I can call it a road) to campsite. Horrible experience. -5 stars

Murphys Peaceful Cranbrook Campsite
It is a little oasis, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere. Approached on gravel roads from either direction, relatively close to Cranbrook.
The pitches are so far apart you wouldn't know that there was anyone else there until they pass on the way to the toilet / shower.
We needed a hookup which was fine, Murphy explained that they were entirely solar dependent. It got interesting when a little family turned up also needing a hook up, expecting to run a fridge freezer and an electric griddle. The power kept tripping off which was dealt with quickly and effectively. The family moved on and we saw them at the next site we visited in Kootenay NP (there are 30amp hook ups there - more suited to her needs!)
We loved the remoteness of the site we were right by the little stream, regularly visited by a friendly little dog and many chickens.
This place is perfect for those wanting off grid peace & solitude with access to a toilet and shower.
