This is an amazing place ran by amazing people ❤ I highly recommend you go check the place out. There is so much to do in the area aswell.
Beautiful location next to the mountains, very nice property. Very reasonable rates per night, the hosts were extremely kind and patient with us. (We were a group of 4 teenage boys) They own a cafe about 1 min down the road and it also has really tasty food for prices unheard of in the middle of the BC country. There is a train that blares it's horn and roosters that make noise in the morning, so be careful if you're a light sleeper. They also have hens, goats, and 2 very friendly dogs named Juniper and Revy. The communal kitchen has everything you need, and 1 shower with hot water and two toilets. For the price, nothing comes close to this beautiful place, and I will be coming back for sure.
Pat and Bernie were amazing. They were fantastic hosts, going out of their way to show us the closest fishing site and even joined us around the campfire at night. The site was better than we expected, also. Directions were clear and the site is very easy to get to. Great fire pit too. The site also has amenities because it’s colocated closely to their house. We didn’t stay in the campers but they looked super comfortable.
The best part of our stay was learning about Pat and Bernies’s vision for their property and how they intend to use it to build a community. By camping here, you weren’t just visiting, you felt like you were a part of building something greater.
I’m definitely coming back!!
Whether your goal is to connect with the Earth or with people, the Flyway Farm and Forest is the place for you. Located in tiny Spillimacheen BC, this hidden gem will enhance any experience. Patty and Bernie are kind, enthusiastic, and generous hosts. I was planning to tent it, but since a bear had been in the area they offered me a camper to stay safe. The camper was adorable, clean, and much nicer than my tent! The only downside is now I want one. The trailer has elements from Moonrise Kingdom and for any Wes fans out there, the new dwarf goats are named Sam and Susie. Goats? Oh yeah, and chickens too! I helped sing them to bed one night and earned my "Spillimacheen Chicken Chorus" merit badge.
Patty and Bernie pointed me towards lots of adventure, from the Lower Bugaboo Falls hike to the top of Mount Jubilee to spy both valleys from a fire watch. I've done quite a bit of travelling and can say with confidence that this property has a special energy and quality to it that reflects the wonderful owners. It felt like the magic of an overseas backpacking trip practically in my backyard.
I highly recommend you visit with an open heart and mind. There is lots to be learned and experienced here. I can't wait to come back, this time with friends (but solo adventurers will love it here too; I did).
