PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION COMPLETELY!!! THIS IS ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OUR CAMPGROUND AND HOW TO GET HERE.  Our campground is a work in progress and after decades of neglect from the previous owners over the last 4 years we have made great progress returning it back to its natural beauty. That said we are still finding buried trash and treasure and we likely will for years to come unfortunately so bear with us and keep your shoes on:) Our campground is for experienced outdoors people. We do not have Wifi, electricity or flushing toilets. We do have excellent reviews from folks that really love camping and being outdoors and also meeting other people. Our campfire is a common area where your encouraged to meet your fellow campers. So you can talk about where your going and were you've been, what your doing and what your passionate about. If your not feeling social your campsite will offer a quite place to relax and enjoy the frogs and crickets. Our toilets are simple and use sawdust so we can compost. We understand that is new to a lot of people but the good news is, if you've ever roughed it in the back country, We don't ask you to pack it out. My Wife Bren and I really enjoy hosting with Hipcamp and hope to be a part of helping you reconnect with nature. Nico J Woody    *vaccinated Bren I Woody     *vaccinated Take the Trinidad exit (if traveling South), Trinidad Rancheria exit (if traveling North) to the boutique fishing village of Trinidad were the towns unofficial motto is " A drinking town with a fishing problem". Head North on Frontage Rd on the East side of the freeway then turn Right on Stumptown Rd, drive down the dip, up the road past our neighbors to the left with a colorful collection of trailers before arriving at our 2 acre home nestled in the thick of the redwoods. The live edge redwood fence will let you know you've arrived.  Our front and West side fence is live edge redwood and recycled sheet metal. The front house is a light green with mahogany stained window trim and there is one camp sight up there but you will be camping in the back and you will get there by following these instructions. Turn Left at the wood sign with the letters HC at the top, 103 in the middle and 93 at the bottom. 93 are our neighbors so do not enter their property. They are very nice but they are not Hipcampers so please respect their privacy. The HC sign should be illuminated if your coming after dark though we strongly encourage you to arrive in the late afternoon to early evening. Keep right along the redwood fence until you reach the gate with the HIPCAMP sign that reminds you you are here. The gate is always closed so please close behind you if we are not around but we definitely intend to be! We really enjoy being hipcamp hosts and we've always found the best experience for you as a guest is to have us here to greet you. we have carved out 5 sites in the woods with one shared fire pit next to a VW beetle that has a tree growing out of it.  Site 1 is reserved for families at the front of the property accessed through the wood gate behind the main house. There is one fire pit here and the house is under renovation. This site is gated on all 4 corners so if you have animals or don't like animals this spot by request and availability only. My wife and i stay in the cabin and in the barn we keep our chickens and turkeys. On the North side of our cabin you'll find an outside sink for dishes, a water spigot and an outdoor shower with hot water. In the back we assign spots on an individual basis. The campfire and hammock area is communal and campers are encouraged to hang out and swap stories about where you've been and where your going. There is a small white sign for parking your car. if you are tent camping which is a short walk North into the woods. The sites back here each have a green popup tent with a private toilet, bear spray and first aid kit. There is a red wagon you may use to move your gear to the back if needed.    If your van, truck or trailer camping there are 2 spots on either side of a redwood grove next to the VW beetle. There is a small table and a few chairs that may help you identify this area.  We have fresh eggs for breakfast by donation. (based on availability).  Firewood is $5, $10, $15 a bundle small, medium, and large THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING IT ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM! Now let me tell you the most important thing, We have no street lights and cell service is spotty at best. Please print this out, take screen shots but do not trust your phone or google maps to guide you here.

    What a great spot! Each campsite is marked with small sign with various names, we used two campsites that were in the back, they were very spacious. It was calm and quiet upon arrival. The hosts would later come and say hello around dinnertime, they were very friendly. There were materials to make s'mores left by the fire pit. The outdoor sink was a little hard to find, it was in the back of the cabin, would not recommend for overly large pots / pans. Arachnophobes beware -- there were a lot of spiders hanging out in the bathroom tent. Also we weren't quite sure if the bathroom is very equipped for going #2. There's wood chips to throw into the bucket after use, but I'm sure if too many people were using it in that manner, it may pile up too high. We were only there one night so we never found out. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves at this location. The stars were bright and beautiful, the trees blocked out a lot of the windiness, and it was too terribly far from town, so if you forgot anything important it's a short trip to the market. If we were to stay again we might take advantage of the hiking trail nearby.

    Nico was super helpful and the location was good! But the spot itself wasn't as secluded as I'd hoped. The campsites (we staying in a van) weren't very private, and the garbage pick-up still seems to be a work in process.

    Fantastic car camping with an incredibly generous and attentive host. Nico was nothing short of amazing. We had an absolute blast hiking in the redwoods and Nico gave us plenty of tips as well as helped us build a fire (we had a little trouble haha!) Thank you so much for letting us stay in your camp site! The hot shower was amazing after hiking in beautiful redwoods out to the beach and back. So grateful to see poultry being raised in humane conditions and we were happy to handle the sawdust toilets. Nico was Johnny on the spot with everything we needed.

    The campsite certainly did not feel as private or as up kept as the photos showed. Being very close to neighbors definitely takes away from the experience. The community fire pit is created out of river rock which is extremely dangerous because they explode when they over heat and this actually did happen to us on our trip and almost hit one of our campers.

    Nico was great! Super helpful and accommodating. We loved the spot and he even gave us some fresh eggs in the morning, not to mention helping us jump the car when it died. Can’t recommend enough!

    Weird/low-effort sites and amenities, only interaction was with personal guests of the hosts who seemed surprised we were there at all. Not terrible, and the hosts seem nice from messages, but definitely an unusual, confusing, and overpriced experience

    Nico and Brenn were AMAZING! They gave us fresh happy organic fed chicken eggs upon arrival, fresh water and great space to make home for a couple nights! They have a beautiful property. Follow Nicos directions they will get you there gps will take you to a different location. Couldn't be happier with the stay thanks again guys!

    The provided infrastructure and state of the property do not warrant the price per night. I would be hard pressed to recommend this site until the bathrooms, cooking space, and tent sites are improved.

    Nice quiet spot to sleep in our van. Google map link directions were way off the mark (they say to follow text directions, but why have a wildly incorrect link?). Neighbor’s “colorful collection of trailers” is really a homeless camp.

    We were the only ones there which was awesome! Nico was super nice, told us where everything was and told us to text him if we needed anything. There are chickens and wild turkeys which can get a little loud at night, but other than that great stay!

    Nico’s space was lovely. There is a great tent site with a hammock and a table which we would’ve enjoyed if it wasn’t raining. There is an outdoor compost restroom that’s neat and dry and we were offered a heated shower. The place was pretty easy to find - Nico recommended getting there in the afternoon or so, we arrived in the night and rain and the address sign was a smidge hard to read but that’s fine. Didn’t take much to get the number! Nico and his wife said hi and made sure we found everything well. Highly recommend.

    The host was nice. We arrived well after dark on a very cold and rainy night (even though the host suggests arriving earlier). It was easy to find the place but difficult to figure out exactly where to put our camper trailer. Also a little hard to get out in the dark before dawn. But it is very quiet while still being close to 101 and it might be beautiful in the daylight - not sure because puddles and tree trunks were all we could see on that dark and rainy night.

    Nico was an excellent host! When we got trouble with our van due to heavy rain and got stuck, he helped pull us out of the muck. The site had great foliage and tees and was very quiet. We slept really well.

    Hidden retreat under the red giants

    This place is a gem! It is so close to town and right off coastal highway 101 yet peaceful and quiet under the redwoods. There were ample campsites and each one had a generous amount of room.

    I loved this hip camp- my first! Beautiful forest land with some small campsites nestled in unobtrusively. I loved the portable compost toilet - ingenious! Nico was so great to deal with- friendly and helpful in all ways. Beware of the turkeys (white, beautiful, aggressive), and enjoy the chickens that peck around the open areas. There's a trailer with a fridge (with eggs to enjoy) and a stove top if needed. Outdoor shower and sink. There's also a nice common area, with a hammock, fire circle and more, for groups or folks who are feeling sociable. A beautiful beach nearby as well Couldn't have been better- I loved it!

    I loved my stay at this camp! I had a spot tucked away and it felt like my Jeep was settled in the redwood forest itself! My space had its own composting toilet which was a nice feature given the privacy component. Nico provided a nice tour so I knew where everything was and even offered up free eggs, compliments of the farm (: the other campers were very social and provided great conversation! I would definitely stay here again if traveling thorough the area.

    We had a great time at Trinidad Stump Camp. Nico was very hospitable and my kids had fun with the chickens and turkeys. We also enjoyed the stargazing. Living in the city, we rarely have the opportunity to see the Milky Way. The core of the Milky Way could be seen with the naked eye.
