Great outside, not good inside
Lots of pros and cons, but not sure we would return.
Pros:
-Sandee is a charming, friendly, and communicative host. She is so sweet!
-Absolutely gorgeous view of sunset, open spaces, and can't miss starry nights.
-Cool petrified rock bits to check out on the property
-Private home, but steps away from the host (pro or con depending)
-Very quiet! It was bliss just stepping outside away from our two loud children to revel in the peaceful quietude.
Cons:
-Cleanliness, while it's expected to clean up after yourself I'm not sure that's enough cleaning to maintain a rental long-term. This place defiantly needed a refresh from a professional or a deep clean. It really took away from the relaxing nature of a vacation.
-Clutter, there was just a lot of random odds and ends that seemed unnecessary. I think that added to the cleanliness issue, and made it hard to keep track of our own belongings. There is no microwave, but there are handful of kitchen gadgets for single use tasks.
-The building itself. Some things to be aware of if you have small children: there are only space heaters to use in the winter months, and the two sleeping areas are separated by an outside entrance with stairs. There are improvements that are needed, such as securing some railing, and strengthening the deck which Sandee did mention is being addressed. I know in a rural area it's common to have rodents intrude, but I think that's an ongoing battle here, there was some evidence of rodents in the kitchen.
