As everyone else mentioned, a great stay! My dog and I loved it. It was so nice to have a shelter to stay in but it still felt like "camping." The cabin and the campsite and toilet were all very clean. The wood stove was actually too warm for us in mid-May. We used it the first night but it was too hot so skipped it after that. It dropped to 30-40s overnight but the heat from the day (in the 70s) made it warm and the insulation kept it warm enough overnight. I don't doubt it will keep you warm in the winter.
There were alot of sandflies so make sure you bring some bug spray for your dog! (I had it but didn't use it the first day and he got eaten alive)
Camp location was perfect to explore Mono Lake and also close to Bodie State Park. We took the backroad and didn't find it difficult at all.

We loved this camp! it's quite spacious with a bit of a view of Mono Lake through the trees. Incredibly quiet at night. Easy to get to, although it feels like you're out in nowhere.
We visited during the new moon and the sky was black. I saw a huge shooting star the first night. We asked for George for help a few times and he was quite responsive. I would stay here again.

The site was pretty private. I couldn’t really hear or see the guests at the other site. Good resting point for visiting the surrounding lakes.

Juniper Camp is a special place. The way the grounds are laid out provides both privacy and and a feeling of openness with the natural setting. The nights are scented of and illuminated by the awe inspiring starscape. It’s transporting.

This cabin was perfect. Everything you need for a cozy night in the Sierra. The insulation on the cabin is solid so even in cold evening temps we were super warm. George is a fantastic host and we definitely recommend a stay (or 20) here!

I think we got extremely lucky this lil’ gem was available as we were passing through. We were arriving at night so I reached out to confirm a couple details to find the camp had much more to offer than anticipated! It’s simply magical. I did accidentally drive up to the home owners home not realizing it as I missed the first entrance. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy!!

Juniper Camp was simply amazing. I needed to get away to a place that was off the beaten path, secluded, peaceful and beautiful and this fit perfectly. The photos that have been shared here don’t truly capture how breathtaking the scenery is in every direction. It’s located near the backroad to Bodie (the road was closed when we went), so that’s a great place to venture out to during the day. I will say that we really were excited to just get back to camp and relax. There’s a fire pit if you want a fire, gas grill, charcoal grill and a nice outdoor kitchen space to use the camp stove provided - might need to bring fuel (we brought our own stove). The cabin was super cozy, the stove kept it very warm and we were comfortable all night while it was in the 20’s outside. There’s a foam mattress on the sleeping platform - and! - you can gaze at the stars out the window as you doze off. I would imagine it being nice even in warmer weather as there were windows all through the cabin. My favorite moments were sitting outside, enjoying coffee while taking in the views and the quiet. Seriously, it’s so peaceful here. Found a nice spot to put up our hammock and what a great place for a nap in any weather! My daughter and pup had fun exploring the property. It’s pretty dusty and it got a bit windy in the late afternoon, so be prepared. Already planning a trip back to Juniper Camp...can’t wait.

Juniper camp was a great cabin escape. It has so much character and fits well into the desert landscape. It’s so quiet, and there’s plenty of amenities like a propane grill, potable water spout nearby, books related to the area, and quirky decor. The scenery is incredible; this is a great place to transcend further and take a break. Be prepared to keep the wood stove fire stoked in winter. Would definitely go back. Thanks for creating such a cool space!

Our stay at Juniper was absolutely wonderful. The place has an incredible view and we were nice and toasty with the campfire and the wood burning stove. There was even a beautiful walk to the water from the campsite. The dog that was with us was super happy with the doggy bed and sleeping under the bed. The stars at night were also fantastic!
The one thing I would note is that if you coming here during the winter months the road to Yosemite is not accessible (opens in May). It was okay for us since there was plenty of amazing hikes to do nearby.

Loved it! If I am ever back in this area of CA, I will definitely camp here again. It is about 5 miles off of 395 on a "random" country road, very easy to find. Panoramic views of the neighboring Eastern Sierras and Mono Lake. George was very responsive to our questions, the campsite was easy to find, clearly marked, there was potable water, firepit, BBQ, and even a disco ball!!! :)

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Juniper Camp! The cabin was really cute, and ore importantly, well thought out with every rustic convenience to make our stay fun and comfortable. If you love the idea of sleeping in a small, rustic off grid cabin with amazing views in every direction, cooking on a camp stove in the outdoor kitchen while listening to birdsong, and not hearing any other humans around, this is the place for you. Even the outhouse was surprisingly cute and comfortable. My boys love running around the desert between the juniper and pine scrub, which made perfect “spy bases”. The location made a perfect spot for exploring Mono Lake. In the summer when the roads open, you could also visit Yosemite and the ghost town of Bodie. We will be back again!

Juniper camp was awesome! Great little one room cabin and although we stayed in March, had no problem keeping warm overnight with the stove running.

Beautiful spot, cabin is well maintained and insulated. Outdoor cooking and seating areas are super useful. We had a sweet local dog wander over and check in us each day. Gorgeous views from the crapper. A magical trip!

Wonderful spot with a nice fire pit, benches, and even a trailer that you can sleep in if desired. I was here in early April and the silence was astounding. Great views of the lake and mountains just steps from the camp.

Charming little cabin with serene, beautiful landscape! The first night we arrived the winds were very strong all night, but the cabin was sturdy and the wood stove kept us nice and warm. Make sure to make use of the water pump several yards in front of the house—we drove right past it the first time! Had a great adventure exploring and skiing Mammoth, would definitely return :)

Very clean, quiet campsite with all the amenities of camping. The out house was cleaned daily. Wood stove in the cabin kept us warm in 20-30 degree weather.
Julia, the caretaker was very nice. She restocked the firewood for the cabin for us. Campsite had very scenic views of Mono Lake and the mountains. Would definitely stay here again.

Highly recommend Juniper Camp! My husband and I rang in the New Year here. We wanted a heated cabin to come back to after a day of snowshoeing and this was perfect for our needs. The views are stunning. You can see Mono Lake thru the window as soon as you sit up in bed. The host George was friendly, responsive, and provided fire wood. Would stay here again.

Juniper Camp is one of the most scenic outdoor spots in the eastern Sierra, from the front porch and firepit you have a clear view of Mono Lake and the backside of Yosemite's mountains. The sun rises over the lake and the whole basin is bathed in gold and it sets over the mountain range in the evening and every sunset was gorgeous. We stayed for 3 nights.
The cabin is handmade pioneer stylee with rustic playa vibes all around and the wood stove is perfect for fireside chats and heat. The bbq and outside firepit were home base hearth for our large group, some of us camped outside or at Pinyon Camp another campsite, same view.
This Mono HipCamp has all the 1960s scout camp vibe of a counselor who's gone rogue; it's a classic, spunky, sparse uncut gem and it has the correct amount of dust only a true natural nature lover would appreciate. It has everything you need if you are a well-traveled camper and you already travel well ;)
Highly recommend! Will be back in the summertime!!

Our stay at Juniper camp was so great! There was a good bit of snow on the ground but the firestove kept everything super toasty (heads up -- george provides lots of great wood but might want to bring fatwood or starter newspaper if you generally need support getting fires going). The outhouse was amazing even in the cold, 5 star views in every direction :). Excited to come back soon!

If I could stay and live in this cabin forever I would! I hate to recommend it because I want this incredible place on earth all to myself <3 If you like panoramic views of desert landscape to your left, surreal prehistoric lake straight ahead, and iconic Sierra ridges to your right I'd say check this place out :)

Staying in here for 3 days was not long enough! This place exceeded my expectations in terms of amenities, the panoramic views, and privacy. I almost don’t want anyone to know about the place so that it’s more available in the future. This cozy little cabin was perfect for my girlfriend and I along with our two dogs. We will be coming back soon!
