This spectacular campsite is the closest you'll get to the new Tribal Park Entrance.  We are in fact in Monument Valley, and throughout history the Tribal Park Entrance has changed from Gouldings Lodge and is now at the View Hotel.  We are conveniently located 1 Mile from the 163 Junction, before the Tribal Park Entrance.

This site is close to the roads, entering into the Navajo Tribal Park, and accessible to grocery store, gas station and restaurants.. So this site location is semi remote, its close to the central fee gate & Visitors Center, which many people want!) At this location, you are guests of the Navajo and can access the entire Monument Valley easily accessible with any type of car.  There is an outhouse at the campsite area. This listing includes access to our instant hot water solar shower, and we provide wifi for checking messages, or maps, but its very limited as we are in a rural area.  So we don't provide it as an amenity because there's no technology for it to reach the tents.  And we feel that's the best part of camping.  Having access to it, but not while actually camping.  This listing is for one vehicle.  Extra Vehicles require their own site registration.

This site includes a tent, with a full sized bed, pillows, linens, blankets, comforter, a queen sized 0 degree sleeping bag, and during the winter months we give guests handwarmers which make it nice and warm in the sleeping bag, without having to heat up the entire outdoors.

Mark and Jennafer are awesome! Make sure you ask Jennafer about her work with preserving the rights, history, and environment of Native people – it's fascinating and inspiring! Camping in their yard was a convenient base for seeing the area and provides an opportunity to connect with others around the fire. But if you're looking for solitude and wilderness, ask them about camping at one of their remote locations. I did that the second night and it was amazing!!!

Monument Valley is much bigger than I ever imagined and this serves as a great central location to explore from. While in a private location down a dirt road, it is only a few minutes from the visitor center and “The View.” The Holiday and Yellowhorse families were incredibly helpful, gracious, and enthusiastic in sharing their knowledge of their home. They made this mystery of a place so accessible and opened my eyes to so much; I can’t imagine doing Monument Valley any other way. What an incredible way to help support the indigenous community!

The host are so wonderful, with their smiles sunnier than the desert sun. Miss you, Jennafer and Mark! The photos need some updating, because the site is a bit different than I expected. They are slowly improving their campsite conditions. They built some structures for shade and the outdoor shower is very refreshing. Super close to the Monument Valley Park entrance. You can enjoy the gorgeous sunset views from the campsite without having to bother in a queue to enter the park. Would definitely stay again if given the chance. Thank you!

Probably the closest place you can camp to Monument Valley! awesome hosts, with real stories of the navajo people – their struggle, their laughter, their triumphs, and their amazing resilience. I hope to return here to help out more…

Extremely friendly and helpful hosts! The campground is not the same as photos but still beautifull. Awesome land! Highly recommended!

Hey Kevin, haha. Not sure what that means, not the same as in the photos. However, we have changed quite a bit, as we have removed so much trash in the area, to facilitate a new camping experience, that is closer to nature. But we find that people take such great photos, that its not as magical to walk up when its windy or dusty. But its the same campground, through the eyes, of the photographers.

Love love LOVED our stay at Mustang Valley. Mark and his wife were so amazing! Two of the nicest people we've ever met and we loved their dogs. When we arrived we were told that we could camp in the general camp area or we could camp in the more backcountry area further out. We opted for the more remote area and had the entire field to ourselves. The scenery was absolutely amazing and we were able to enjoy the sunset while cooking dinner on the portable fire ring Mark brought out to our site. This campground is definitely more "rustic" so if you're looking to be pampered consider staying up the road at The View hotel. Just be aware if you do you will miss the opportunity to awake to a beautiful sunrise with horses grazing peacefully in the field next to you. I could have stayed for a full week if I could. Thank you Mark for all of your help, we will be back.

Jennafer and Mark were extremely accommodating even though we showed up a day early for our reservation. They made us feel welcome and comfortable. Jennafer took the time to explain some of the history and politics of the area, which was really interesting.
The solar shower was hot and strong and the toilets were clean and convenient.
The view was amazing and we were able to walk out into the valley from our campground and do a little exploring.
I would definitely stay there again (this time showing up on the correct day because the tent set-up looked lovely and we were so bummed that we weren't able to partake in that) and would recommend staying there to anyone looking for a awesome camping experience in Monument Valley.

As soon as we pulled up, we were greeted warmly and offered a place at the fire. What a great group of people, and they even gave us their big tent, which was made even more cozy by a pair of puppies scampering about. The area is well cared for, with lights around to make it easier to find your way in the dark, but not intrusive enough to detract from the amazing night sky. They even built their own outdoor shower! Awesome place, awesome folks, wish we could have stayed longer!
