Mesquite forest tent sites

My property borders the San Pedro River National Riparian Area and as such has a plethora of birds that come from Mexico and are only seen in this area. I am also close to the historic towns of Tombstone and Bisbee.

It was chill. Comfortable, beautiful. Way out but worth it for a slice of local life. Karen was a wonderful host. Definitely would come back for the birds and wildlife.
Karen was friendly and inviting. She answered all our questions thoroughly.
The campsite was nice with bird feeders and a string of lights.
It is a fairly remote place right on the US/Mexico border. It was quiet and dark, great for stargazing and moonwatching!
We enjoyed the hummingbird show at Karen’s place, thanks to a feeder placed at our campsite. Karen recommended a short walk to cottonwoods along the San Pedro River. It was nice. So were the pink sunsets and our day trips to Bisbee for restaurants and stair climbing.
Great spot a very short distance from the start of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area.

Camping just isn’t - without a campfire, and Karen provided plenty of firewood. We enjoyed the views while tucked behind the hills (which blocked the winds) right on the Mexico-American border. Make sure you have a vehicle that can handle a rough road (I enjoyed the ride). Worthy of a repeat visit. Thank you Karen.
We spent 2 days at Mesquite Forest. Karen was very friendly and helpful. Her place is isolated so if you want quiet, this is the place. It has no amenities (bathroom, shower, power, etc) so you have to be self-contained. We have a campervan so it worked fine. I’d like to come over again when it’s gotten some rain. Southern AZ is in a drought so the riparian area is very dry.

My friends and I were very happy with our campsite! We had plenty of space for our three cars and two tents. Karen provided a fire pit and kindling for us. My friends also enjoyed exploring the forest that was accessible from this property.
The roads leading to this land were primitive, but I was able to get there fine in my Prius (driving slowly when it got really bumpy).
We had a great time camping on Karen’s beautiful property. She greeted us warmly and made sure we were happy and comfortable before leaving us to our lovely evening. The area is gorgeous, a stone’s throw from the Mexican border and world-class birdwatching, which is what lead us there to begin with. Prepare for some spiky conditions in the mesquite forest, but you won’t be sorry.
