Haak'u Cuervo Canyon Camp is a breathtaking location that greets you with gnarled ancient Junipers that have an almost sculptural quality to them. Red rocks lay beneath your feet. Blue agave, Yucca and a variety of flowering cactus are abundant. A short walk reveals that you are actually standing on the edge of a canyon. The views extend endlessly into Cathedral Valley where a long dormant volcano majestically sits. This is a place to contemplate. A place to dream. A place to rekindle your passions. The silence literally becomes a blanket and honestly it takes a bit to adapt. In the evening the sunsets produce those amazing hues that Arizona is famous for and at night the sight of the Milky Way reminds you how finite you are. In the mornings you're greeted by numerous species of friendly birds eager to share the sunrise with you. We've literally had them sit on our coffee mugs wanting a sip. Take some time and hike down into the canyon. Its about a 500' descent filled with large boulders and flanked by a couple rather deep arroyos. There are meadows and wildlife and the smell of pinyon pine. There are a few unique experiences here. Canyon Overlander is just what it says, it's meant to be a spot for the overlander, the adventurer, the pioneer to bring their rig and unwind and explore the numerous dirt roads that run through the 80,00 acre preserve in which we are located. In that spirit this site is relatively unimproved other than providing a fire pit we have only added a small drive to mark the entry. If you require anything else during your stay please let us know. We always keep water, firewood, grills and stoves on site for rentals and purchase and may be able to accommodate other requests as well.

Sarah & Charles were great—very communicative and super friendly. The camp site was private and absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend arriving during daylight given the rocky dirt road you take in. Loved our stay!

Canyon Overlander is a beautiful, peaceful getaway. Sarah and Charles were extremely kind and helpful my entire stay.
We loved this place. Wanted to stay longer. Sarah ,Charles, and their family is awesome. The canyon overlook was amazing and the zero light pollution made for a remarkable stay. The restroom accommodation exceeded most. Also, firewood delivery at dusk. Hope to stay for a week next time. We are home now and already miss it.
Sarah and Charles are awesome hosts with a sweet little property. Definitely try to arrive during daylight because the drive is pretty and can be daunting at night. It’s not a dangerous road, no cliffs or winding, but it’s pretty dark and rocky. Charles met us even though we arrived late and showed us to our overlander spot. It had a nice fire pit and he provided us with a table, chairs, a rinsing station and soap. They even helped us start our fire! The next morning we were invited to see the rest of the property which is higher up and overlooks the canyon. There were more cool seating and lounging areas we were invited to use. Our kids loved the teepee set up and musical instruments. The hosts recommended hiking areas and when we had to leave, they suggested places to stop in Williams. They even followed up a few days later for camping recommendations in other towns! It was really great meeting Sarah and Charles and hearing the story of their gorgeous property. We hope to be back soon!
